While the whole of the DCEU was in disarray after Zack Snyder left the franchise, there was still hope for the cinematic universe to bounce back and stand on its feet once more. And this hope was reignited after the release of 2018’s Aquaman, which starred Jason Momoa as the titular superhero. And just like a miracle, the film shot to the heights of success like its distant predecessors in the franchise did back in the day.

But the character’s introduction had already been done in 2017’s Justice League, a film that received very polarizing reviews from the public and the critics. During this time, the rumors about the existence of the Snyder Cut of the film had also started to gain traction, and as if fate had worked its magic, Momoa himself confirmed it, along with calling it a better version of the superhero team-up that the world initially witnessed.

Ever since Zack Snyder had to leave the DCEU behind, the franchise has been slowly inching toward ruin, until finally, CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran decided to dismantle everything and start anew, which led to the creation of the DCU. Even before this decision, the legendary Snyderverse that was envisioned by the filmmaker was almost forgotten, until fans got a hint about the possibility of a Snyder Cut of the subpar Justice League existed, and it may have been substantiated by none other than Jason Momoa himself.

On an online forum in the past, there was news about the existence of Zack Snyder’s Justice League and people were speculating, theorizing, and campaigning for that version of the film to be released to the public ASAP. In one of the reports, it was pointed out that a Twitter (now X) user went to a meet and greet, where he came face to face with the Aquaman star himself. And when they both conversed, Momoa revealed that there was indeed a Snyder Cut of Justice League like everyone was talking about.

On top of that, the Twitter user also wrote a Tweet where he said that the star called Snyder’s version a better film than Whedon’s version of the project. This insinuated that even Momoa believed that the Snyderverse was a better put-together cinematic universe that suffered a tragedy and came to an end. While these claims have been made, there is no real evidence whether what the X user reported the star saying about the Snyderverse had any real substance, apart from the fact that Zack Snyder’s Justice League did exist, and was finally released for the fans in 2021.

After the abysmal performance that James Gunn witnessed with the release of The Flash, it all depended on the then-upcoming Blue Bettle to set the record straight for the DCU going forward. And since the film is now available in cinemas, the reports of the film being a better offer than the last couple of projects from WB Discovery do make it look like the new franchise is off to a good start, although the box office collections are still short of impressive.
