Known for her performance in the Netflix original smash-hit show Wednesday, Jenna Ortega is back at it making headlines, and this time for all the wrong reasons. Recently the actress became the center of media attention as she gave controversial comments on the writing decisions of her globally recognized show. Her comments added fuel to the fire as the Writers Guild of America strike continues to affect Hollywood.
While the main reason for the writers’ strike is against the network and production studios, some writers have decided to put Jenna Ortega in the crossfire, in reference to her comments during an interview on the Armchair Expert podcast earlier this year. It was ironic because, despite some minor criticism, the Netflix show helped her rise to global fame and achieved unreal watch time on the OTT platform.
Jenna Ortega’s Insulting Comment About Her Netflix Original
During March, Jenna Ortega was a guest on the Armchair Expert podcast, where she talked about her experience working for the Netflix Original show, and talked about how she sometimes became unprofessional on the set as she started to make changes to her given script, and made changes to certain scenes without referring to the show’s writers.
“There were times on that set where I almost became unprofessional in a sense, where I just started changing lines. The script supervisor thought that I was like, going with something, and then I would have to sit down with the writers and they would be like, ‘Wait, what happened to this scene?’ And I would have to go through and explain why I couldn’t do certain things.”
The Scream VI actress also criticized the writers for certain plot developments, as it “did not make sense for her character at all,” and gave certain instances from the show. She added how she despised saying certain dialogues and as a result, took matters into her own hands, and made the necessary changes for the show.
“I don’t think I’ve ever had to put my foot down on a set in the way that I had to on Wednesday. Everything that she does, everything that I had to play, did not make sense for her character at all. Her being in a love triangle made no sense. There was a line about a dress that she has to wear for a school dance and she said, ‘Oh my God, I love it. Ugh, I can’t believe I said that.”
The first season of the show topped the Netflix charts for several weeks and surpassed Stranger Things season 4 as the most-watched English show within the first week of its release. Therefore, Jenna Ortega’s comments were not taken lightly by the writers because the show went on to become a global success.
Writers Troll Jenna Ortega For Her Insensitive Comments
Some writers have decided to make her the butt of all jokes as they were not amused by her comments on the podcast and how she made the script of the show better with her contributions and they went on Twitter to mock the actress’ comments on the podcast.
The actress was trolled by Nick Adams, the writer of Bojack Horseman who trolled her for her outfit at the Met Gala held on 1st May 2023.

The actress was also trolled by Brandon Cohen, a writer for Disney’s Just Roll With It, where he was standing with a sign, mocking Ortega’s comments on the podcast.

While writers were trolling the actress some fans backed them on their poor pay, as they are the unsung heroes who make their favorite shows, and movies, as well as giving a boost to the country’s economy.

While some users were criticizing the writers for being misogynistic, it appears that most of them were unsure about the phrase, and a user explained how Brandon Cohen is calling the actress one of them.

While poor pay for the writers is a serious issue, it looks like some writers have found some humorous relief, as they trolled the actress for rewriting certain parts of the show. The strike has been backed by some big names from the industry such as Jimmy Fallon and Seth Meyers, which has halted production in the industry of several shows and movies.
