Half-time shows have always been made extravagant and big and the NFL has devoted huge budgets for this show every year. As the  South China Morning Post puts it, Beyoncé performed at the 2013 Super Bowl that had an estimated budget of $600,000. However, when Lopez performed in 2020, the budget skyrocketed to a whopping $13 million. This is almost 21 times that of what was given to Beyoncé at the time.

Lopez even called up Shakira for a duet during her performance and maybe this led to the spike in the show’s budget. The Weeknd took a step further and put up a glorious and epic Super Bowl performance in 2021 that cost $17 million, to which he contributed $7 million from his own pocket.

The popular R&B singer claims that he is finding it hard to squeeze his 30-year-long career in just 13 minutes and is trying his best to reflect his entire history with the limited minutes he’s got. He also stated that he is mindful of his past and will consider songs that people have loved and celebrated him over the years. He said,

“I gotta do it in 13 minutes. That makes it a bit difficult. It’s definitely been a challenge to squeeze 30 years into 13 minutes. I was very mindful of my past, celebrating my present — which is here in Las Vegas — and thinking about where we’re headed in the future. That was really the idea.

I thought about a few moments that were special in dance. I thought about some things that I had created here in Las Vegas like skating and doing things that I had not done on stage up until this point to be able to share that with the world.”

Fans are confident that Usher will do a great job with his Super Bowl show and are expecting a greatest hits setlist that will celebrate the artist’s legacy. Fans can watch his halftime show on February 11, 2024, live on Paramount+.
