Having lived through years of choppy waters and alleged rumors, could this be the ultimate comeback we’ve all been waitin’ for?

Ahoy, we’ve got a major storm brewing on the Pirates of the Caribbean seas. Producer Jerry Bruckheimer just spilled some serious tea, hinting that Edward Scissorhands’s actor Johnny Depp might be lured back for one last high-seas trip. The makers have a final script almost ready, and casting will start full-fledged next month.

Producer Bruckheimer revealed in a recent interview, “We’ve got a new script brewing, and hopefully Disney will be feelin’ piratey enough to make it happen.” This is huge news after years of fans wondering if Jack Sparrow had sailed off the edge of the world.

Depp’s messy legal battles and dramatic exit from the role had everyone thinking the franchise was headed for a watery grave. But Bruckheimer, a true friend of Depp’s, isn’t ready to let Captain Jack go down without a fight. “It’s a reboot, but let’s be real, the seas wouldn’t be the same without Jack,” Bruckheimer said. “Love the guy, and he’s one heck of a pirate. We’ve talked, but gotta see how the wind blows.”

Depp, however, has been mum on the subject, previously saying he wasn’t interested in reuniting with Disney because of how they treated him. Disney fired Depp over his messy divorce drama with ex-wife Amber Heard (via Economic Times). So, is Captain Jack Sparrow about to dust off his compass and rejoin the crew?

While we wait for Depp to decide, another Pirates project is on the horizon—a Margot Robbie-led pirate flick (per Entertainment Weekly). Bruckheimer says both films are a go with Disney, but Robbie recently hinted hers might be stuck in a creative whirlpool.

One thing’s for sure, though: the future of Pirates of the Caribbean is more mysterious than a hidden cove. But with a fresh script on the way and Bruckheimer determined to keep the franchise afloat, the film ain’t ready to walk the plank just yet. But but… will Captain Jack Sparrow return?

Johnny Depp Says “Avast!” to Pirates of the Caribbean

Avast, ye landlubbers! Here’s some unfortunate news. Johnny Depp, once Hollywood’s golden boy thanks to his iconic portrayal of the rum-loving pirate, had a very public falling out with Disney after his ex-wife accused him of abuse. While Depp recently scored a legal win, it seems like there’s no treasure map leading him back to the House of Mouse.

“No intention of working with Disney ever again,” Depp declared, per the Daily Mail. Apparently, not even a cool $20 million paycheck for a sixth Pirates movie could sway him. This echoes what Depp said in court—his relationship with Disney “was officially severed.”

The real kicker, though? Depp claims Disney still uses Jack Sparrow in their theme parks, selling dolls and whatnot. “They just didn’t want there to be something trailing behind me that they’d find,” Depp said in court. So, they’re happy to profit off the character, but not the man who brought him to life? Talk about a mutiny on the high seas!

While Disney might be wishing they could chart a course back to smoother waters with Depp, it seems Captain Jack Sparrow has set sail for calmer shores. And honestly, after all this drama, who can blame him? Looks like the future of Pirates of the Caribbean will have to navigate uncharted territory without its most legendary captain.
