He shared that although they have discussed some ideas with the Mission: Impossible star, there is no substantial progress in the film’s development so far.

We’ve got some interesting ideas we’ve talked to Tom Cruise about, but we don’t have a script yet, he said.

“It will be a while,” he further stated, suggesting that fans would have to wait a considerable amount of time for the next installment in the film series. Prior to Bruckheimer, the film’s director Joseph Kosinski also hinted at a potential delay in the third installment.

The filmmaker emphasized that it took more than three decades to bring the sequel to the silver screen. And he would consider taking his time to find a compelling story that would feel challenging enough for a third installment.

“It’s all about a story that I love, a challenge that’s exciting. For me, that’s why I do it and I know that’s why Tom does it,” he shared. Kosinski is currently busy with his upcoming sports action drama starring Brad Pitt, which is scheduled for a 2025 release.

Top Gun 3 Updates Sparks Concern Among Fans

The notable concern is that the 61-year-old actor may not be able to perform the high-octane stunts synonymous with the franchise. “He’ll be 80,” one fan said, sharing their reaction to the potential delay in the movie.

Others, however, also shared their eagerness for a third installment, saying that they “can’t wait” for Top Gun 3. While some fans shared that they are willing to wait for a sequel that matches the thrill of its predecessors, the concern remains that Cruise’s advancing age could hinder the franchise’s success.
