Jesse Eisenberg’s Work On The Now You See Me Movies
Following his role in renowned movies like The Social Network and Zombieland, Jesse Eisenberg appeared in the popular film series Now You See Me as J. Daniel Atlas. The storyline of the movie surrounds a group of thieves who also happen to be illusionists and magicians, Eisenberg reprised his role twice.
Currently, with confirmation of the third sequel, Jesse Eisenberg yet again reprised his role as the magician skilled in sleight of hand and stage magic, to lead the series’ ensemble. Claiming how the film was somewhat a palate cleanser and a relief to the actor, Eisenberg spoke about his work in the film series.
Revealing how he lacks self-belief and confidence in his own work, Jesse Eisenberg confessed to leaving his comfort zone because of the film. Currently focused on the third installment, the actor mentioned that playing the role of the talented magician allows him to truly embrace a level of confidence or call it arrogance.
Jesse Eisenberg Denounced Method Acting in His New Movie
During an interview with Collider, Jesse Eisenberg admitted that he was “desperate” to get back to his role as J. Daniel Atlas in the renowned Now You See Me film series. Speaking about his work and dedication in the movies, the actor disclosed refraining from method acting, that Christian Bale so dearly implements.
“I discovered that I don’t like actively pursuing what you would call “method acting,” which is where you almost treat the circumstances as reality…For me, doing those movies, Now You See Me more than anything is like the furthest I go in terms of feeling like the character because I am an actual performer as my job and the character is a performer.”
Jesse Eisenberg believes that by leaving his comfort zone and helming the role of a confident magician/thief, he is already using a sort of method to embody the character. Therefore, he doesn’t need to implement further method acting into the movies, unlike actors like Christian Bale.
“I’m a very unconfident performer experiencing self-doubt…I don’t wanna see myself because I’m just encumbered with my own anxieties about myself. So getting to be a performer that feels good about himself and actually be on a movie set where I am performing is the most method I felt.”
The actor discussed his love of the films and mentioned how his role makes him feel confident about himself. Pre-production of Now You See Me 3 has already begun but the release date is yet to be disclosed.
