In 2005, actress Jessica Alba appeared for an interview with the Irish Examiner and explained that she would never date an actor because male stars are “bigger divas” than female stars,

“Men are much bigger divas than women. When I used to do the action scenes in Dark Angel, I would have to lay it rough. If you hit an actress accidentally, she would usually take it on the chin and say: ‘Don’t do that again’ but with the guys, they would put ice on it, take a 20-minute break, and ask for X-rays. It was unbelievable. I would tell them: ‘Come on, man, get over it.’ That’s actors for you.”

Many believe that this was a subtle dig at her Dark Angel co-star, Michael Weatherly, who is also her ex-fiancé.

In a 2013 interview with Hollywood.com, Alba revealed that she doubted her acting abilities when the director of 2007’s Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, Tim Story, constantly asked her to reshoot an emotional scene,

“I wanted to stop acting. I hated it. I really hated it. I remember when I was dying in Silver Surfer. The director was like, ‘It looks too real. It looks too painful. Can you be prettier when you cry? Cry pretty, Jessica…’ And then it all got me thinking: Am I not good enough? Are my instincts and my emotions not good enough?… And so I just said, ‘F**k it. I don’t care about this business anymore.'”

Alba then took a break from acting but made a comeback one year later after the birth of her daughter named Honor. The actress got married to Cash Warren, a film producer, in 2008.
