From facing numerous health issues to being subjected to inappropriate behavior from family members and even school officials, saying Jessica Alba’s childhood was tough would be an understatement. But things did start to shift for the actress after she enrolled in acting classes at the age of 12, as she would even eventually rise to prominence, thanks to 2000’s Dark Angel success.
However, the years that preceded Dark Angel were far from smooth for a young Alba, and by far her most traumatic and scariest experience took place during her time filming 1995’s Flipper.
Jessica Alba Was Kidnapped by Her Stalker From the Sets of Flipper
Back in the ’90s, during her time filming Flipper, Jessica Alba would receive strange phone calls from a stranger on a regular basis. But initially, the Fantastic Four Star and her family members didn’t bother focusing on the matter, brushing them off as harmless prank calls. Things eventually took a wild turn after the stalker kidnapped Alba, who was 14 at the time. She was later found in the trunk of a car bound and gagged after a rigorous 14-hour search.
Unfortunately, to this date, the culprit remains anonymous as the Into the Blue star was unable to provide police with any kind of information about the abduction, leading to the case being closed. Since then, Alba has remained pretty quiet about the abduction and has never addressed the traumatic incident publicly.
Jessica Alba Was Often Bullied by Her Classmates
As a kid, Jessica Alba was no stranger to bullying, which resulted in her father dropping the actress at school in order to avoid getting attacked. The actress further explained that she avoided eating on the school lunch table as she would often get beaten up or picked on, and her family’s financial condition at the time didn’t help the situation. Speaking with Daily Mail, she explained,
“My dad had to walk me there so I didn’t get attacked. I’d eat my lunch in the nurses’ office so I didn’t have to sit with the other girls. I’d get beaten up and picked on all the time. It was about being different and not fitting in. I had a strict family at home and lots of the girls were looked after by a whole string of nannies, so they got away with all sorts,”
Despite coming across overwhelming odds and traumatic situations, Alba never let the bad things bring her down, becoming one of the most inspiring figures in Hollywood.
