And the studio is planning to work on these issues, as the reboot TV series will be a “faithful adaptation” of the books. However, fans’ opinion on the series still seems varied due to the author’s involvement in the project. Rowling has been under fire for her views on trans rights, which has also caused multiple Harry Potter stars to distance themselves from the author.
J.K. Rowling to Executive Produce Harry Potter TV Series
HBO Max recently announced its plans for a Harry Potter reboot TV series. The series will introduce a new cast and will faithfully follow the story as per the original books. The author of the popular book series, JK Rowling has also joined the project as an executive producer.
Rowling has said HBO Max’s “commitment to preserving the integrity of [her] books is important to [her].” The 57-year-old author also shared that she is looking forward to being a part of this TV series that will allow the makers to explore the depth of the Harry Potter books.
HBO Max has also claimed that the TV series will be a “faithful adaptation of the iconic books.” While fans seem excited about the TV series, many of them are not in favor of JK Rowling’s association with it as an executive producer.
Fans took to Twitter to troll Rowling and shared how being faithful to the Harry Potter books can cause issues for the Lethal White author due to her transphobic comments.

Things only got worse for her as she joined The Witch Trials of J.K. Rowling podcast earlier this year. Considering The Ickabog author’s transphobic comments, one Twitter user said, “JK Rowling seeing a trans actor play one of her characters.”
One user also mentioned that being an executive producer on the series, Rowling might not let such a thing happen. Many users have also opposed the series due to the author’s involvement with the project, saying that they do not want to support anything associated with JK Rowling anymore. The studio has not revealed any further details about the TV series yet.
