Despite the good start, there have been some concerns raised by the critics. Many historians have blasted the film for its historical inaccuracies, however, Scott is not affected by them, stating that they were not there so they can’t question the contents of the film. With a massive budget, it’s hard to say if Napoleon will be able to prove itself as a financial success after its theatrical run.

As per Variety, director Ridley Scott‘s latest movie, Napoleon, debuted at $78.8 million, including $46.3 million internationally. So, domestically the film earned $33.1 million, placing it in the second spot below The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, however, internationally, the film secured the top spot.

Many critics believe that the film will be a financial loss for the studios due to its massive $200 million budget, but so far things are looking good. After its release in the United States and the United Kingdom on November 22, 2023, the film has gained the spotlight thanks to remarkable performances by Joaquin Phoenix and Vanessa Kirby.

Many historians and critics have claimed that Napoleon got all the history wrong after its premiere at Salle Pleyel in Paris, however, Ridley Scott is not looking for their opinions as he shut them down in an interview with BBC,

“The French don’t even like themselves. The audience that I showed it to in Paris, they loved it.”

The director added that there are more than 10,000 books about Napoleon and all of them have different stories so it makes no sense why people are criticising his movie. Napoleon was released in the United States and the United Kingdom on November 22, 2023, and will be available for streaming soon on Apple TV+.
