Nobody would have expected a year ago that Helldivers 2 would eventually blow up and become one of the best live-service games of 2024, even running in the race for the Game of the Year title.
And while a lot of issues that often go unaddressed still persist in the game, the title seems to have brought home the first of the many awards it deserves, with Johan Pilestedt, the Chief Creative Officer for Arrowhead Game Studios, sharing the news on his official X handle.
Fans Are Left Flabbergasted as Helldivers 2 Brings Home One of Its First Awards
Showing off the trophy, Johan Pilestedt updated fans through his official X/Twitter handle on how Helldivers 2 has managed to win an award for Best Game Design at the Develop: Star Awards 2024.
While the community celebrates the huge win, a few players have taken the opportunity to bring up the fact that the game is still lacking due to different bugs and issues that the soldiers of super-earth face every day in their mission to spread liberty throughout the galaxy.

The win also came as a surprise for many, with a lot of fans still left in disbelief after the game managed to grab the award against other nominated titles such as Baldur’s Gate 3.

A few even sought the opportunity to bring up how the majority of the player base since the release of the game has stopped playing the game due to the unaddressed issues and is unlikely to come back until the studio makes sure to fix them.

It stays important to note how Helldivers 2 has managed to win the award for Best Game Design and not Best Game yet, a title it deserves for putting forward a fun co-op game that players could have just dreamt of before its release with a fresh breath of new design and storyline.
What Comes Next for Helldivers 2?
There is no doubt that the studio works around the clock to constantly find solutions for any issues that players encounter in the game. This applies to everything from a mechanical bug to the slightest inconvenience caused by the platform itself.
Furthermore, the CEO of the studio, Shams Jorjani, has announced through his official handle how the developers will be staying more active throughout the different forums used by the Helldivers 2 community, including Reddit, Discord, and Twitter.
This will ultimately result in more direct interaction between the community and the creators of the game themselves, allowing them to catch onto a rising issue or a persisting mechanic failure of the game early on through the primary feedback from the players themselves.
