For one, Keanu Reeves has gathered a name for himself as an undercover surfer in Pointbreak, the risk-taking SWAT officer Jack Traven in Speed, a young, talented, and ambitious lawyer in The Devil’s Advocate, the solemnly loyal Scott Favor in the Shakespearean adaptation, My Own Private Idaho, and the titular volatile chain-smoking exorcist in Constantine. Over the course of the decades in which Keanu Reeves has performed in Hollywood, the impossibly altruistic and down-to-earth actor has quietly acquired a list of items that are as enviable as they are iconic. During an Ask Me Anything session on Reddit, Reeves has divulged what lies in his garage except the million dollars worth of motorcycles.
“I have kept a couple of things. I don’t have the surfboard, but I think I have a coat from the first Matrix. I have the sword from Hamlet, I kept a lot of working scripts, I have the jersey from The Replacements, I’ve got Constantine’s lighter and watch, I have Bill & Ted’s shorts (Ted’s shorts), I used to have the leather jacket from My Own Private Idaho but I gave that to a friend. And I think that’s it.”
Despite what Keanu Reeves has established himself as in recent times, the actor did begin as one half of the comedic duo that goes by Bill & Ted. The eponymous film rose to immense success, both critically and commercially, allowing Reeves to get his foot in the door to more major roles like the ones starring beside Al Pacino and River Phoenix before landing his own leading man job in Speed.
