Known for his comedic roles in films like Superbad, Knocked Up, and 21 Jump Street, Jonah Hill has left a mark in Hollywood not only as an actor but also as a director. Being one of the most versatile actors in the industry, he has starred in several genres and has shared the screen with some of the most iconic actors in the industry, one of them being the Oscar-winning actor Morgan Freeman.
The two actors have worked together in Evan Almighty and 10 Items or Less. The actor later shared an awkward interaction with his co-star that happened while filming the latter, which left him and Freeman on non-speaking terms.
Jonah Hill Recalled His Awkward Interaction With Morgan Freeman
During his initial years in Hollywood, Jonah Hill was cast alongside Morgan Freeman in the comedy-drama 10 Items or Less. The movie follows an actor researching a role and a young cashier on a trip around Los Angeles. It was reportedly shot in 15 days and was released as a digital download soon after it hit theatres.
During his appearance on The Graham Norton Show, Hill recalled filming the opening scene with Freeman, which featured them in an extended car ride. The Oscar-nominated actor shared that the scene took three days to film, during which they didn’t engage in much conversation in between takes.
However, the Seven actor finally decided to break the tension with an acapella that went like “Jonah-Jonah, Buh-Bonah, Banana, Fanna, Fofona, Me Ma Momona. Jonah…” The song, however, made Hill even more uncomfortable. He shared that he didn’t know what to say back.
“I didn’t know what to say back. It was one of the most weird moments of my life,” he said on The Graham Norton Show. The Don’t Look Up actor, who was at the loss of words and didn’t know how to react to the situation, said, “Thank You.” However, the surprise for him was yet to come as his co-star suggested that he should do the same.
Jonah Hill’s Co-Star Did Not Like His Morgan Freeman Song
After performing a sudden acapella in front of Jonah Hill, followed by three days of awkward silence, Morgan Freeman asked him to do the same with his name. The 21 Jump Street star shared that followed by a brief silence, Freeman said, “Do my name.”
Hill, who was already pretty uncomfortable by everything that happened in the last few minutes, blurted out his version of the song with the first name of his co-star, which he didn’t seem to find flattery enough, and reacted to the song saying, “Alright.”
“He went ‘Alright,’ and then we never spoke again,” the actor shared on The Graham Norton Show. While he stated that they never talked again, Hill and Forman have joined the cast of several projects together, including Evan Almighty and the voice cast of The Lego Movies.
