Jonathan Majors has consistently been a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe since he first got introduced as He Who Remains in the season finale of Loki. He was also confirmed to be a part of the second season. His future in the franchise looked concrete as he was to play the primary villain of The Multiverse Saga.
All that came crumbling down as his position in the franchise became blurry, not because of politics but because of yet another controversial allegation on Majors. There is no denying that more and more cases of domestic violence, assault and so many more are rising against actors and celebrities. Although he was arrested almost instantaneously, no production company or franchise had taken any action against him, perhaps trying to abide by the statement of ‘innocent until proven guilty.’

No famous or big franchise would want to be tied to any form of controversy, especially a franchise as colossal as the MCU. So to see them also having a contingency plan can still be a way for their idea and execution to still be smooth regardless of bumps they cannot predict. Furthermore, Idris is a famed actor who has been in series like Black Mirror, Snowfall, and more.
The second season of Loki is set to air on Disney+ in the summer of 2023.
