Despite getting off to a flying start in 2023 with the success of Creed 3 and a brilliant performance in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Jonathan Majors’ year came crashing down in March. The Marvel star was arrested for alleged harassment and assault following the accusation filed by his rumored girlfriend at the time, Grace Jabbari.
With the official court trial having commenced on November 29th this year, Majors and his defense team have been working continuously to prove his innocence amid many pieces of evidence that the prosecution has been laying out against him. In the recent surveillance video showing the aftermath of the alleged assault incident, Jabbari is seen chasing the Creed 3 star down the street over several blocks.
Video Evidence Shows Jonathan Majors’ Confrontation With Ex-Girlfriend
It has been a challenging year on the personal front for Jonathan Majors after the Kang actor was accused by his now ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari of physical harrassment and assault. With the trial currently underway, the star’s defense team is working fervently to get the charges dropped.
A fresh video that has been presented by the prosecution as evidence, shows the supposed figures of the Devotion star and Jabbari confronting each other in what was reported to be the aftermath of the assault incident. In the video, Majors and Jabbari are seen having a conversation in an empty street with the former then tightly curling his arms around her. The prosecution used this image to claim that Majors was attempting to physically pick her up and shove her against the SUV near them.
Following this, the video shows the Marvel star releasing Jabbari after an unsuccessful attempt to dominate her and proceeds to run away, with Jabbari giving him chase over many blocks. The ex-girlfriend is also seen asking a few strangers for assistance, while Majors returns in the video to allegedly warn her to stay away. While these images show a huge 6-foot frame closely resembling the star, the actor’s defense team will be preparing to find loopholes in the video that would present their client in a favorable light.
Jonathan Majors’ Trial Adds To Marvel Woes
Jonathan Majors was the only bright spark in Marvel’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania which received a lukewarm response at the box office. Majors’ chilling performance as the supervillain Kang ensured that the franchise and the film could save face amidst harsh criticisms. In addition, his character arc was touted to be the integral link to future MCU projects including being the titular star of a fifth Avengers film in 2026.
The unexpected arrest of the Creed 3 star though, has now thrown a spanner into the works for Marvel. Facing serious charges of assault and violence, Majors is now in the midst of a trial that has put his career in the franchise in jeopardy. While Kevin Feige and Marvel have not officially commented on the future of the actor in the MCU, an inside source told Variety Magazine that the franchise was facing a dilemma regarding the actor.
“Marvel is truly f****d with the whole Kang angle. And they haven’t had an opportunity to rewrite until very recently [because of the WGA strike]. But I don’t see a path to how they move forward with him.”
With recent films like The Marvels having the worst opening by any Marvel film at the box office, Kevin Feige and the team have a long and challenging road ahead in their effort to resurrect the franchise, especially after the Jonathan Majors fiasco.
