The new installment in the Hunger Games franchise, The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, took the fans back in time as the movie serves as a prequel to The Hunger Games (2012). In the main series, actor Josh Hutcherson played the role of Peeta Mellark but that didn’t stop him from becoming an obstacle for the latest Hunger Games movie since they went ahead without him.
Hutcherson’s 2023 movie Five Nights at Freddy’s, has been a massive hit and it seems like The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes will have a hard time reaching the bar set by Five Nights at Freddy’s. In terms of box office collection, some sources have revealed that Five Nights at Freddy’s has made some huge profits.
Josh Hutcherson’s Five Nights at Freddy’s earned more profits than the new Hunger Games movie
A news outlet that goes by the name Geek Vibes Nation on Twitter has revealed that actor Josh Hutcherson‘s 2023 supernatural horror film Five Nights at Freddy’s currently sits at a worldwide box office collection of $295 million and is closing in on $300 million. That means, the creators took home a profit of $280 million so far, considering the budget of the film was just $20 million.
The hype for the movie was created thanks to the video game series the movie is based on. The film has been criticized by some critics who claim that the film feels like a “cash grab.” Nonetheless, it has been very beneficial for the studios financially.
Will The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes break this record?
Another movie that has been running in the theatres right now is The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, which is the fifth installment in The Hunger Games film series, a franchise that Josh Hutcherson was previously a part of. Despite so much marketing, the film had a slow start. Since its release, the film has grossed roughly $197 million so far.
With its gigantic budget of $100 million, it’s hard to say if the film will break the record set by Five Nights at Freddy’s. The new Hunger Games movie is set 64 years before the events of The Hunger Games (2012) and features Tom Blyth, Rachel Zegler, Peter Dinklage, Jason Schwartzman, Hunter Schafer, Josh Andrés Rivera, and Viola Davis.
