Who doesn’t like a good Naruto reference? Turns out it is Jujutsu Kaisen Blu-ray producers. Season 2 of Jujutsu Kaisen gained traction due to the outstanding animation and heartbreaking scenes. (side eyes Toji)
As usual, the release of the Blu-Ray version followed the second season. In fact, the Blu-Ray came out in Japan on March 20, 2024. Fans have been waiting for the release, and now that it is out, the episodes are being examined with a magnifying glass in classic detective style.
Fans have already discovered several discrepancies between the original TV version and the newly edited one. The most noticeable one is the removal of a scene in which Toji looks like Sasuke.
What was the Naruto reference in Jujutsu Kaisen season 2?
A very obvious Naruto reference has been removed from the Blu-ray of Jujutsu Kaisen season 2. In episode 15 of season 2, Toji Fushiguro fights Dagon, a special-grade curse and in one scene, his hair resembles Sasuke from Naruto.

According to fans, Toji’s hair, eyes and smile closely resembled Sasuke. While some criticized the low quality of the episode, others got a good laugh out of it due to the unexpected character overlap.
Some more watchers pointed out that at one point in the fight, Toji also resembled All Might from My Hero Academia due to his overly defined facial features, smile, and darkened eyes. Some of the other changes in the Blu-ray version include correction of dimming, and color correction. The action scene was also extended and more details were added to the episode.
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 TV Anime Vs. Blu-ray
One of the major overhauls that MAPPA did was extending the Sukuna vs Mahoraga episode by more than 70 cuts. A lot of the ghosting and dimming was rectified. Fans were shocked by the amount of dimming the scenes went through because the Blu-ray version looks bright enough to be out of a Disney movie.
A lot of scenes were added back to the episodes, which has made fans understandably happy. The rectifications were hyped by many, but some claim that the Blu-ray wasn’t anything eye-opening. Rather, you can counter the dimming by just increasing your screen brightness.
The polished Shibuya arc fights between two superior powers gave otakus a rush of dopamine. According to some, it’s the difference between overworked and happy animators.
