Earlier this weekend, Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 241 was officially released, bringing the exciting continuation of Fumihiko Takaba versus Kenjaku. While Takaba was put against the fearsome Kenjaku in Chapter 240, setting the stage for a showdown that promised substantial character development and thrilling combat, this chapter concentrated on Takaba and his background before the struggle with Kenjaku progressed any further. Takaba’s past was exposed in the chapter, as was his passion for humor and his struggle to connect with others.
When Takaba entered the stage, he was probably the only comedic relief in the entire story. Still, after looking at his backstory, it feels like he has the most serious backstory in the series ever. This just goes to show Gege’s talent for portraying the story or building a character who was not so irrelevant and now is the same guy who is facing the main villain.

Takaba’s Sad Backstory Revealed in Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 241
Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 241 began at a regular campus, where Takaba was seen swearing at one of his comedy partners for being late because they were running out of time to practice for an event. Takaba was still unhappy after his partner apologized, and he dived into practicing their comic performance. The partner, on the other hand, revealed that he couldn’t recall the routine they were going through. Takaba takes comedy very seriously, and while this may seem strange, but Takaba truly believes it. It is, he claims, the only way he can communicate with others. Takaba has always been an oddball. He had a difficult time connecting with other people when he was a child.
Takaba also noticed that telling jokes appeared to draw people to him and gather them around him. Takaba’s principal approach to success in life becomes comedy. It is something that characterizes every single relationship he has had, and his entire future is dependent on it.

Takaba Gains His Confidence Back
Takaba’s story continues as he is then seen in the current day talking to his childhood self, who asks him what “taking comedy seriously” even means. This child’s version of himself teaches him that what he said to Kenjaku before was incorrect. Takaba previously stated that he does not care if Kenjaku laughs at his jokes or not. He is more than content as long as other people laugh and think him amusing. He regrets uttering the statement to Kenjaku after realizing his error and realizes what Kenjaku said is correct. He adds that Kenjaku was not attempting to convince him to give up but rather to provide solid advice.
Takaba as a child reminded him of why he became a comedian in the first place and convinced him to make amends. The scene returns to the fight, and Takaba bows down in front of Kenjaku right in the thick of it. He did this because he realized he was deceiving himself. As a result, he resolved to apologize to Kenjaku and bowed before him.
