The Jujutsu Kaisen manga has been luring fans in and has become a major dominant force in the manga world ever since Gege Akutami first released chapter one back in 2018. Thanks to its unique storyline revolving around Jujutsu Sorcerers like the fan-favorite Gojo Satoru, it even went on to be adapted into an anime as well.

However, now that the series is finally progressing to its end by the end of this year after hyping up fans for over half a decade, creator Akutami may have confirmed a rather dark ending for the top-rated manga series through their most recent comment. Following that, fans are now dreading that their favorite manga just might face a devastating end like that of Attack on Titan.

Two years ago, while sharing details about their manga Jujutsu Kaisen in an interview, creator Gege Akutami revealed (via Anime Senpai):

“I am talking with my editor that manga will be over in 2 years but we will have to see what [the] editor thinks about this decision.”

While they haven’t confirmed it since, judging from the recent turn of events and heartbreaking fan-favorite characters’ deaths, the series is more or less headed toward a devastating end. Backing this claim is Akutami’s other comment that out of Gojo Satoru and all the first years, “either one person will die or everyone will die except for one person.”

So far, the worst-case scenario aka the latter part of Akutami’s comment is predicted, considering how not only Satoru has already faced his end at the hands of Sukuna despite being the strongest jujutsu sorcerer in the series, but the first-year sorcerers Nobara Kugisaki and Megumi Fushiguro’s fate lies unclear because of the previous events as well.

In chapter 212 of the manga, the King of Curses took over young Fushiguro’s body, killed his sister, and tanked Satoru’s unlimited void attacks using the same. The fact that his body was used to get rid of both his sister as well as teacher has led the young sorcerer into immense despair. Furthermore, Sukuna’s having taken over his body is more than enough to presume Fushiguro’s death considering how he and the curse cannot co-exist in the same body.

As for Nobara Kugisaki: the young sorcerer faced a gruesome fate even earlier in the series at the hands of Mahito during the Shibuya Incident arc. Back then, the special grade cursed spirit caused Kugisaki’s eye to explode using the tricks up his sleeve. This led many fans to believe that Nobara Kugisaki just might have faced her end. However, Gege Akutami hasn’t confirmed her dead-or-alive status yet.

How Jujutsu Kaisen Manga Just Might Be Heading Toward A Similar Fate As That Of Attack on Titan

In Attack on Titan, another superhit manga, a majority of both main characters as well as general humanity was killed by the end of the series. In fact, as the series progressed to its end, it saw the death of an overwhelming majority of the main cast which included almost every named character and numerous unknown ones, leaving only a countable few behind.

Considering all these events that have already taken place, so far three out of four (including Satoru Gojo), leaving only Yuuji Itadori aka Sukuna’s original vessel, have been presumed dead. This is clearly pointing at the fact that Jujutsu Kaisen just might end up facing a similarly heartbreaking fate as that of AoT.

However, even in such dark times when all hope seems lost as all the signs point at Gege Akutami taking the more heartbreaking route where all but one character dies, there still might be hope. This is because none out of Gojo Satoru, Nobara Kugisaki, and Megumi Fushiguro have been declared dead by the Akutami. Furthermore, the story might take a complete U-turn with Yuuji Itadori sacrificing himself to save everyone else.

Despite that, fans need to brace themselves as at least one of all four characters is most certain to give up his life if creator Gege Akutami stays true to their words.
