Jujutsu Kaisen’s ‘besto friendo’, Aoi Todo, has lost his left hand to Mahito and bid his Cursed Energy Technique, Boogie Woogie, goodbye. Initially, Mahito was dominating Yuji Itadori in a fight against destroying him mentally and physically. But thanks to Todo, Yuji found his confidence back, and both of them launched simultaneous attacks at Mahito and beat him to a pulp.
Unfortunately, Mahito did manage to maim Todo, but it was not enough to stop the duo from winning the fight. The fans were saddened to hear that Aoi Todo won’t be coming back since he can no longer use his innate technique. But they have found a loophole in Todo’s technique, which points at Todo still being able to use Boogie Woogie.
Boogie Woogie Might Still Be Alive
Within a short time, Aoi Todo became one of the most popular characters in Jujutsu Kaisen. The third year from Kyoto High rose to Grade 1 Jujutsu sorcerer due to his potential and abilities. He was trained by Special Grade Jujutsu sorcerer Yuki Tsukumo. His Cursed Energy Technique, Boogie Woogie, is one of the most overpowered techniques in the anime.
The technique allows Todo to change places with people or objects with Cursed Energy within a certain distance by clapping his hands. His technique comes in handy when he fights alongside another person. While fighting Hanami and Mahito, people loved his partnership with Yuji. But even though Mahito maimed him, there is a huge loophole that keeps his Boogie Woogie well intact.
Todo confirmed that the applause comes from within the soul, and clapping hands is merely a way of showing it. So, he could use any other part of his body to clap. During the fight, he used Mahito’s hand to clap and change places with Yuji. Since applause comes from within the soul, it won’t matter, as long as the sound comes the same.
More on Jujutsu Kaisen’s Aoi Todo
Aoi Todo and Yuji Itadori vs. Mahito was Todo’s last fight because after that, there was never any mention of him in the manga. Todo declaring his Boogie Woogie is dead is still something that the fans cannot fathom. There are tons of ways of clapping. Moreover, he can use Black Flash, has massive strength and intellect, and can keep calm during a fight.
Another idea that comes up is that he could use a prosthetic arm made up of Cursed Energy. Using his right hand to slap his cheeks, pecks, stomach, etc., can produce clapping sounds. Aoi Todo is more than just his innate techniques. The Jujutsu Kaisen fandom was expecting his see Todo’s Domain Expansion. Seeing his potential, it was not that far.
Gege Akutami is a great mangaka, but they could have used better reasoning for Aoi Todo’s Boogie Woogie. Even though he is not dead, Jujutsu Kaisen fans will miss him. His last fight will forever be etched in their hearts, and how he helped Yuji get back to his feet. But as for his innate technique, people are still not convinced.
