Beginning from the sixth episode of the second season, it is one of the most popular arcs for JJK fans because it focuses on the tragic parts of the story rather than the slice-of-life aspects. Why Did Japan Ban Jujutsu Kaisen Halloween Gatherings in Shibuya City?

On October 17, the government officials of Shibuya City took to the messaging platform X to issue some safety precautions and guidelines for Halloween. Amidst the skyrocketing popularity of Jujutsu Kaisen’s Shibuya arc, the message on X reads:

[Note] Shibuya is not a Halloween event venue. Please refrain from coming to the area around Shibuya Station to celebrate Halloween on the streets. Drinking on the street is prohibited by ordinance during Halloween. We ask for your cooperation in ensuring safety and security.”

Gatherings during Halloween have been discontinued to avoid a repeat of the stampede disaster that occurred last year in Seoul, Korea. Over 150 people died and 190 were injured when anime fans packed at Itaewon in the Yongsan District to celebrate the Halloween festivities. The situation would’ve been much worse this year so most fans believe the ban to be the right option.

Shibuya Crossing, located in front of the station, has also been a place of chaos. ‘The busiest pedestrian intersection in the world’ has had a history of accidents and stampedes. As such, Japan has taken a safer approach to avoid any ‘Shibuya incident’ involving Jujutsu Kaisen fans.
