For a pair once known as the most widely shipped power couples of all time, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are going through a lot more than just a “rough patch.” While their ongoing messy and incredibly lengthy divorce war is one thing, what further has them constantly stealing the spotlight is their seemingly never-ending fight over their assets and properties.
That being said, recent reports are claiming that vengeance has reportedly seeped into Pitt’s heart while fighting this legal battle with his former wife. This comes after one crucial act from the Fight Club actor’s legal team seems to have sent Jolie on a wild goose chase after documents that the source claims even Pitt believes won’t be able to stand in court.
Brad Pitt is Reportedly Trying to “Punish” Angelina Jolie
Back in 2019, Angelina Jolie filed for divorce from Pitt, wanting to leave him once and for all as she did so. But it seems like filing for the divorce wasn’t an end to her battles, but rather, a fresh start to a whole another level of war. This is because, even after nearly half a decade, the pair’s legal battles are still waging as strong as ever.
If that wasn’t enough, new reports from a source close to the Maleficent actress are now claiming that Brad Pitt is not over the fact that Jolie has left him. This is why, according to the sources, now the vengeful Bullet Train actor has plotted a way to “punish” her and get revenge on her for leaving their five-year-long marriage.
According to reports from PEOPLE, Pitt is doing this through his legal team, thanks to whom the court has ordered Jolie to present eight years’ worth of NDAs. As per Pitt’s legal team, this piece of evidence is “highly relevant [ to her] purported justifications for refusing to adhere to her contractual obligations to Pitt” while trying to sell off her winery shares.
However, reports are claiming that this is another missile fired from the Meet Joe Black actor since both he and his attorneys know that “these NDAs are never going to see the light of day at trial.” Instead, as per the source close to the 49-year-old actress, “this is all for the press.”
Additionally, the source further alleges another reason why Pitt’s legal team is doing this, saying:
They also know that this will force Angelina to spend resources tracking all of this information down, which is just another way to drain her resources and punish her for leaving.
Of course, this could all be true since aligning all of those required documents would ask for more than just Jolie’s personal resources and time, and at the end of the day, the documents may not even be full, as per the requirements.
But while that’s that, the Troy star’s legal team is reportedly humoring and disputing these reports, claiming the Eternal actress’ team shouldn’t quite be “complaining about it” now.
Brad Pitt’s Legal Team is Disputing These Claims
According to further reports from PEOPLE, Brad Pitt’s legal team isn’t backing from commenting on this latest turn of events. As per the source:
The other side introduced the NDA issue into what is a straightforward business dispute, so it’s ironic that they are now complaining about it. And they are the ones who were greatly enriched from violating the parties’ agreement in selling the business.
Meanwhile, Angelina Jolie’s lawyer is claiming that they are “more than happy to turn [NDAs] over.” If anything, he claimed that the actress’ legal team is “gratified that the Court acknowledged that the only potential relevance is to the unconscionability of Mr. Pitt’s conduct, a now confirmed key issue in this case.”
As for Jolie, the attorney claims that the actress is looking “forward to the eventual end of this litigation with its false narratives that continue to hurt the family and interfere with their ability to heal.”
Well, for whatever it’s worth, even though this court battle has been going on for quite a while now, it still doesn’t quite seem to want to get over anytime soon.
