Tom Holland pitched a James Bond prequel
The James Bond movies franchise has been one of the longest-running and most successful franchises over the last 60 years. In the latest appearance of Tom Holland on Late Night with Seth Meyers, he opened up about his James Bond movie pitch. Marvel’s Spider-Man star shared that his idea was to hide from the audience that it was a 007 movie until the end. However, he admitted that it made no sense in the context of marketing for the film.
The actor shared,
“It didn’t work out quite as planned. Essentially, I’m such a big fan of James Bond. I’ve loved Daniel Craig’s movies. And I just thought: If they were to move on it would be really exciting to see how James Bond becomes James Bond. So, I pitched this idea for a movie, which is kind of a stupid idea. Essentially you wouldn’t tell the audience that it was a James Bond movie until the end, but from a marketing point of view, that’s a nightmare. Like that just doesn’t make any sense.”
Tom Holland’s pitch could have worked if Sony and MGM had elected to move forward while keeping its franchise ties a secret from the marketing. However, with the grand success of Craig’s No Time To Die with $774 million gross, it would have been difficult to keep connections under wrap. However, audiences are excited over the concept of exploring a young James Bond in a prequel.

New James Bond after Daniel Craig
The lead role of 007 has been played by numerous actors like Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Daniel Craig, etc. For the unversed, Sean Connery was seen in Dr. No, next was George Lazenby for On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, Roger Moore did seven films, Timothy Dalton was in the next two films, Pierce Brosnan did four films, and Daniel Craig played Bond for five films. But since, the role of the internationally famed spy, James Bond, has become vacant, makers are on the lookout for a new bond.
Some popular names in the running are Idris Elba, Tom Hardy, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Regé-Jean Page, and Henry Cavill, among others.
