Celebrities often have a tough time opening up to people and experiencing love and romantic relationships due to their stardom. Matt Damon found this the hard way after several attempts to date notable celebrities like Winona Ryder and Minnie Driver turned out to be moot.
Talking about how a romantic relationship could ruin a person’s life, Matt Damon stated that he was scared of love since this was his career at risk. The actor also took the example of his best friend Ben Affleck and his wife Jennifer Lopez and where they are now.
Matt Damon Looked At What Happened To Ben Affleck And Jennifer Lopez!
With a tough love life, Damon dated Winona Ryder and Minnie Driver briefly. Ending the respective relationships on good terms, both exes of Damon had nothing but appreciation for the actor for being a gentleman and nothing more.
In an interview with The Washington Post, Matt Damon opined about his love life and finding love and romantic relationships in the alleys of Hollywood. Stating that he doesn’t like stardom at all, Damon stated that he would never in a thousand years, date a fellow celebrity ever again!
“It’s always silly to say ‘never’ in these interviews — then people come back and throw it in your face. But no, I can’t imagine being in a position where I would — I mean, my present situation notwithstanding, even if I wasn’t in my present situation, even if I was single — I can’t imagine being with a celebrity.”
The Martian actor further continued,
“It kind of magnifies exponentially the whole part of this thing that I don’t like, and that really gets in the way of doing my job and interferes with the life part of life. I mean, just look at what happened to Ben [Affleck],”
In his talks, Matt Damon talked about how Ben Affleck fell in love with Jennifer Lopez and eventually proposed to her. With Lopez saying yes, the wedding had to be eventually canceled and they married 20 years too late.
When Ben Affleck Broke Up Due To Media Attention
It was back in November of 2002 when Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez confirmed their engagement on television. Lopez was very happy with Ben Affleck’s proposal and the couple was very excited to marry and start their married life together. It was because of the excessive media coverage and spotlight that the couple decided to postpone their marriage. As per a report by People, the couple gave out a statement for the postponement.
“Due to the excessive media attention surrounding our wedding, we have decided to postpone the date. When we found ourselves seriously contemplating hiring three separate ‘decoy brides’ at three different locations, we realized that something was awry.”
Although it isn’t clear, this postponement led to other fights which eventually ended up breaking the bond between Affleck and Lopez. This might be what Matt Damon was referring to in his statements and yes, it does make complete sense. In the end, Damon married Luciana Barroso while Affleck married Jennifer Lopez eventually.
