The fate of Avengers: The Kang Dynasty was seemingly hanging by a thread over the last few months. It will be the fifth Avengers movie, which is all set to release in 2025. Moreover, a new development has taken place regarding the film.
Michael Waldron has been appointed as the scriptwriter for the movie. Waldron has previously worked on Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Loki season 1. He was heavily criticized for his work in Doctor Strange 2, so it’s obvious that some fans were skeptical of the decision made by the MCU.
Michael Waldron’s Announcement as Avengers: The Kang Dynasty Scripwriter Gets Positive Reactions From Fans
As we mentioned earlier, so far, Michael Waldron has written Loki season 1 and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Even after disastrous work in Doctor Strange 2, Waldron was already confirmed to be the writer for Avengers: Secret Wars.
Now, Waldron has also been appointed as Avengers: The Kang Dynasty writer. Many expected the news to be met with heavy criticism, but instead, fans decided to unearth the reason behind the lackluster writing in the movie below a tweet by MarvelVerse on Twitter,
People hating on Waldron for MoM are forgetting he only had 2 WEEKS to write a full script for the movie. Anyone given that amount of time to write a film would not have made anything super great and the movie was decent. Kang Dynasty is in good hands. #Marvel #MarvelStudios pic.twitter.com/GwAyMEGrC7

Marvel made him change so many things in the middle of production
He had to do so many re writes
And i think the movie title should have been related to 838 and not titled multiverse of madness— Van Damn (@kangRamaTut) November 27, 2023
If he does write a better script that won’t assassinate characters, Kevin better approve of that script.

I think he still gave a decent story to strange and wanda

Most fans defended Waldron by putting the blame on Marvel Studios. They pointed out that the Loki head writer was given only two weeks to work on the script of the second Doctor Strange movie.
On top of that, Marvel Studios forced him to rewrite the script multiple times as well. All things considered, it’s undoubtedly difficult to deliver a great script with such a time-sensitive deadline hanging on your head.
Despite that, Michael Waldron did a good enough job to at least make the movie watchable for fans. Considering he has plenty of time to deliver scripts for Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars, fans are optimistic about getting good movies from the writer.
MCU Could Have Hired Eric Martin for Writing Avengers: The Kang Dynasty
Eric Martin is one of the most talented writers in the MCU right now. He recently gained fame after writing Loki season 2. The show has received nothing but positive reviews from fans around the globe.
In fact, Loki remains one of the only silver linings about the Marvel Cinematic Universe after the release of Avengers: Endgame in 2019. Keeping that in mind, hiring Eric Martin as the scriptwriter could have been a step in the right direction for the MCU.
Anyway, fans should be patient with the script that Michael Waldron presents for Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. If he succeeds in winning fans over with that movie, he won’t disappoint for Avengers 6 either.
