Actor Jonathan Majors had one of the most meteoric rises and falls. He gained fame for his role in indie dramas such as The Last Black Man in San Francisco and came into the mainstream with the MCU, where he played Kang the Conqueror and all of his other variants. The actor made his MCU debut in the series Loki and was set to be the main antagonist for the MCU’s ‘Multiverse Saga’.

However, Majors’ fame was short-lived as he was arrested on misdemeanor charges of assault and harassment by his ex-girlfriend early last year. He was then convicted of the charges, leading him to be dropped by Marvel, his management, and PR companies, as well as a host of other films in development. 1. The Man in My Basement

Jonathan Majors was reportedly supposed to star in the adaptation of the Walter Mossley novel The Man in My Basement. The film follows an unlucky African American who is about to lose his ancestral home when a white man arrives at his house and asks him if he could rent his basement. Majors was set to produce the film through his Tall Street Productions banners, and Willem Dafoe was attached to the project. However, Deadline reported that he had been dropped from the project following his conviction.

2. Magazine Dreams

Jonathan Majors’ Magazine Dreams was already shot and premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2023, opening to positive reviews. Majors starred as a boxing star who struggled to find a human connection amidst his growing stardom in the film directed by Elijah Bynum. The film was scheduled for a December 2023 release but was initially postponed due to the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes, as well as Majors’ arrest. However, according to The Independent, Disney reportedly removed it from its slate of films in 2024 after Majors was convicted in December.

A film based on the popular soul and blues singer Otis Redding was reportedly in the works with Jonathan Majors set to star. The Loki star was said to play the titular role and would focus on his relationship with his wife, Zelma Atwood. The film was titled Otis and Zelma, with Fifth Season Productions producing. However, Deadline reported that Majors is no longer in consideration for the role.

4. 48 Hours in Vegas

The most recent role that Jonathan Majors lost was 48 Hours in Vegas. Based on the infamous trip to Vegas taken by basketball legend Dennis Rodman during the 1998 NBA finals, the film’s story was spoken about in the Netflix docu-series The Last Dance. Rodman reportedly had to be retrieved by his teammate, Michael Jordan, and his coach, Phil Jackson. Majors was supposed to star in the film as Rodman. However, CNN reported that the actor would no longer be a part of the film.

5. Da Understudy

Jonathan Majors was set to reunite with his Da 5 Bloods director Spike Lee on the Amazon film Da Understudy. Said to follow the story of an understudy who finds a role that he would kill for. The film was supposed to be produced by Westbrook Studios and Amazon, with Majors to star and Lee to direct. However, the film has not received any update in its development stage and is most likely to drop Majors.

One of his biggest roles, Jonathan Majors was all set to be the main antagonist of the ‘Multiverse Saga’ in the MCU. His character Kang the Conqueror was first introduced in the Disney Plus series Loki and also appeared in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. He was supposed to have a prominent role in Avengers: Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars. However, following his conviction, Marvel reportedly dropped the actor and had been planning to pivot the franchise to either Doctor Doom or more Mutant stories.
