Cannes is notoriously popular for high-fashioned dress show-offs. So, most celebrities would dress up in their designer outfit with sizzling style on the red carpet. However, many celebrities have been victims of wardrobe malfunctions and faced public embarrassment. Kate Beckinsale, however, was saved from that embarrassment by Keanu Reeves and Robert Sean Leonard.

Recently, the actor shared a throwback pic from the 46th Cannes Festival in 1993 where she appeared with Reeves, Denzel Washington, and Leonard at the premiere of her debut film Much Ado About Nothing

“I had bought the bodysuit in the Sock Shop at the airport and when I got in the car to drive to the premiere with Denzel and Pauletta Washington, all the poppers in the crotch popped themselves open and it flipped up like a roller blind,” Beckinsale revealed.

The actor soon realized that there was something wrong with her dress and she knew that it was going to be troubling for her. Later, the Underworld actor told her Much Ado About Nothing co-stars, Reeves and Leonard who saved her from the wardrobe malfunction.

When Beckinsale realized the wardrobe malfunction, she quietly panicked. Of course, it was the biggest red carpet-walk for the actor at the time. In the post caption, the actor revealed that she told her co-stars about her embarrassing moment.

“I didn’t feel it was appropriate to go delving around in my undercarriage with all of us in the back of the car so I just quietly panicked. Walked out onto the biggest red carpet of my life and whispered to Keanu and Robert Sean Leonard what had happened,” Beckinsale wrote.

Recalling the memory, the actor showed the exact moment in the picture she posted. “In this picture I am holding the front gusset down and the two of them are holding the back gusset,” she added.

“Absolute legends who may not even have fully understood the physics of what was happening or even heard the word “gusset” before,” the Underworld star continued, “but both jumped in to save me no questions asked x.”

Beckinsale further revealed that she wore scuffed, steel-toed  Dr. Martens boots under her gown but the photograph does not show a glimpse of her boots. But the hilarious story is still well preserved in her mind from the big red carpet moment of her life.

Directed by Kenneth Branagh, the adaptation of Shakespeare’s  Much Ado About Nothing stars Beckinsale as Hero, Leonard as Claudio, Washington as Don Pedro, Emma Thompson as Beatrice, Branagh as Benedick, and Reeves played the villainous Don John.

Beckinsale is set to appear in Pierre Morel-directed action-thriller spy film,
