The actress not only impressed the audience with her work but is also known to leave an impact on industry professionals, one of which includes the English actor and director, Alan Rickman. He was in awe of her talent after he worked with Winslet in Ang Lee’s Jane Austen adaptation.
And his experience with the actress would eventually lead him to cast her as one of the leads in the 2014 romantic drama. While it comes as more than just a compliment to her work, the Oscar winner was left speechless after learning the name of her co-star.
Kate Winslet on Her A Little Chaos Co-Star
Kate Winslet starred in Alan Rickman’s 2014 romantic drama, A Little Chaos. The film follows Sabine de Barra and Andre Le Notre, as they fall for each other while working in King Louis XIV’s garden. Winslet starred in the movie alongside the Belgium actor Matthias Schoenaerts.
And The Reader star has shared that she was speechless after the makers suggested his name to star alongside her in the movie. During an interview, the actress shared that she was aware of Schoenaerts’ work beforehand and was super excited about the possibility of working with him.
“I was in the room when his name came up, and as a possibility for Andre, I just went we have to have Metthias,” she explained as she acted out being breathless in the suggestion. She also shared that just the thought of having him in the film was “overwhelming” to her.
When she finally had the opportunity to star alongside the 45-year-old actor, she couldn’t believe her luck. Winslet praised the actress, saying that he’s an incredible actor and it was a pleasure to work with him in A Little Chaos.
Kate Winslet Swoons Over Matthias Schoenaerts
Director Alan Rickman has had Kate Winslet in her mind for the role of Sabine. The actor-turned-filmmaker also starred in the film as King Louis XIV. Winslet, who was super excited to work with Schoenaerts in the film, has spoken highly of her co-star.
“He’s an incredible actor, he’s such an incredible actor, and he really looks like a man,” she said before explaining that the Belgium actor has that strength and size to him that makes him even more powerful. She further mentioned that it’s not something people often see on film, as the Pulsar actor is so “rugged” and “beautiful” which was also very helpful for his character in the movie.
