Ke Huy Quan’s Hollywood journey is no less than a movie. From a refugee to being a child actor in Indiana Jones and then an Academy Award win following a 19-year acting hiatus, his is one of the most inspirational stories out there. Now a Marvel actor, Quan feels immensely grateful to be part of the Loki storyline.
The actor recently talked about his Marvel experience with Deadline and revealed he teared up after getting the casting call from Kevin Feige, his old friend from his X-Men days when he was working as an assistant action choreographer.
Ke Huy Quan Got Emotional After Getting Cast In Loki Season 2
Ke Huy Quan took a 19-year career break, but when he returned to the world of acting again, he knew being a Marvel actor was at the top of his list. He already knew Kevin Feige, after having worked with him on the set of X-Men as an assistant producer, where the Marvel head was an associate producer.
In an interview with Deadline, the Oscar-winning actor recalled how he got a call from Feige just after Everything, Everywhere All At Once had been released.
“I was driving. I picked up the phone. And on the other end I hear, ‘Hi Ke. This is Kevin Feige.’ He went on to talk about how much he loved our movie and how much he loved my performance. Then finally he says, ‘Ke we would love for you to join the MCU family.’ I was driving at that time. I start tearing up, and I couldn’t see the road anymore.”
Speaking to Feige brought back many fond memories for Quan of their days on the set of X-Men. He even remarked that Feige’s vast knowledge about the Marvel universe impressed him, and he couldn’t wait to star in Loki Season 2.
Ke Huy Quan Was Sad Loki Season 2 Did Not Get Any Reshoots
Being in Loki Season 2 was a dream come true for Ke Huy Quan. Not only was he happy to return to acting, he felt fulfilled to have achieved his dream of being a Marvel actor. Furthermore, the actor had so much fun shooting and working with all the cast and crew including Tom Hiddleston, that he was actually looking forward to filming the reshoots, but was left disappointed when the schedule was canceled, as he revealed while speaking to Deadline.
“It was one of the best four months of my life. I’ve done a few shows before, and this was the first time where I didn’t want it to end. I was so happy. In fact, I’ll tell you this. We were scheduled for reshoots this February, and I was waiting… And all of a sudden we were told, ‘Oh, we don’t need any reshoots. It’s all good.’ I was kind of disappointed. I was actually disappointed that we didn’t get to go back because of how much fun we had.”
Despite the initial disappointment, Quan was happy and proud to have made history as Loki Season 2 is the only Marvel show having a second season and without any re-shoots.
