What makes the film even more entertaining is the fact that Keanu Reeves did most of the stunts all on his own. Yes, that’s right, the mind-blowing, nail-biting stunts in the movie were performed by Reeves himself. No wonder it was the hardest physical role of his life! It looks like Keanu Reeves is out to give Tom Cruise a fair competition and fans are here for it! After discovering that the actor was behind almost all of his stunts, fans couldn’t be more impressed.

As revealed by Entertainment Tonight, after training for his return as John Wick for twelve weeks, Keanu Reeves performed ninety percent of his own stunts. This is certainly not something that can be ignored as John Wick 4 has some of the most insane stunts of all time. Needless to say, fans are quite impressed by this as they take to Twitter to label Reeves a ‘Beast!’

John Wick director, Chad Stahelski, once a stuntman himself, appearing on an episode of Jake’s Takes, had nothing but praise for Reeves’ work in the film. He stated that the Constantine actor’s capabilities often exceeded what the team thought were limitations and that Reeves’ execution was sometimes better than 98% of the stunt persons he has ever seen.

“Some people’s capabilities exceed their limitations. Like Keanu, as far as martial arts choreography and driving goes, he is better in a car that I ever was as a stunt double. He does more choreography  and executes the memorization of the moves, safety with the gun thing, better than I would say 95-98 percent of any stunt person I have ever seen.”

All of this coming from someone who was once a stunt double is one of the biggest compliments Reeves can receive. Well, after the stunts he pulled with John Wick 4 (pun intended), he sure deserves all the praise being thrown his way!

Before John Wick 4 was released, Reeves talked to Total Film about all of the action fans should expect from the film. He stated that the fourth installment had more action than any of its predecessors. He also talked about how this role was the “hardest physical role” he has done so far in his career. Reeves stated,

“John Wick: Chapter 4 was the hardest physical role I’ve ever had in my career so far. They really trained me up to be able to have what we call the toolbox.”

And now we know why this was the toughest physical role Reeves had to do. Performing about 90% of his own stunts was certainly not an easy task, but it all paid off in the end. Along with a 95% Rotten Tomatoes score, John Wick 4 impressed everyone by gaining a franchise-best opening with $29.4 million at the domestic box office on the opening weekend!
