However, years before this whole debate, Keanu Reeves, who worked with Will Smith’s son Jaden Smith, appreciated his efforts and work. The elder son of the Oscar-winning actor Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith started acting at a young age. Soon after starring in his first film, The Pursuit of Happyness, he was offered to star alongside The Matrix star in The Day the Earth Stood Still.
Despite getting okay reviews from critics, the film performed very well at the box office. The Karate Kid star, who was just 10 years old at the time, was also awarded for his work in the film. And his co-star was also impressed with his professionalism on the set.
Keanu Reeves Talks About Working With Jaden Smith
The 2008 film, The Day the Earth Stood Still, follows Klaatu, an alien who comes to Earth to change human behavior and save the planet from environmental degradation. It featured Keanu Reeves, Jaden Smith, and Jennifer Connelly in lead roles. Smith played the eight-year-old stepson to Connelly’s character.
During his interview with Rob Carnevale, the John Wick star talked about his ten-year-old co-star and shared his experience working with him. He appreciated his work as he called him very professional. “He’s a good kid, and he’s very professional,” Reeves said.
Although he did not try “anything out of the ordinary to bond with him” because he was still young, Reeves was impressed with his work. He mentioned Smith had some tough scenes that required him “to feel grief, fear, and anger,” which could be a challenge for any actor.
However, despite being so young, he gave a wonderful performance as Jacob Benson in the film. Jaden Smith won the award for Best Performance by a Younger Actor at the 35th Saturn Awards for the 2008 film. And not just Reeves, his young co-star also loved working with him.

Jaden Smith also loved working with the Hollywood star Keanu Reeves. During one of his interviews, he was asked about his experience working with the Constantine star. Smith shared that he enjoyed his time on the set as he called his co-star funny and cool.
“He is a really cool guy and a great actor and he is very, very funny. He always had a lot of jokes and also made me feel welcome.”
The After Earth star said that he likes being in front of the camera and loves being on different movie sets. He said that he loves science fiction and was fascinated by the spaceships and the science lab on the set of The Day The Earth Stood Still.
