Palmer, an actress and singer, has been a popular fan choice in the fandom for the role of Rogue. Thus, fans have been speculating that Marvel Studios reportedly wants her to play the character.  The Nickelodeon star has also leaned into the fan cast and even went on to post a self-shot special-effects video of her as the character on Instagram and some posters for a fictional movie. X-Men Origins: Rogue on X.

Even in an old interview with ComicBook, the actress stated to the site:

“That’s confidential, sugar. No, I’m kidding. I don’t know. I just know that the fans, the way that the fans have me booked, honey, online, I got to do a gig every week. So if we’re adding Marvel to it, hey, let’s do it. I’m ready for Rogue.”

Apparently trying to reference Rogue’s signature Southern accent, the actress sounded keen to play the role. Yet not many fans are convinced and want Marvel to instead cast her as Storm or some other character while keeping Rogue reserved for someone who can pull off Rogue’s Sourtherness.

Keke Palmer has been in the industry since she was a child. Yet Palmer has failed to get any significant mainstream roles till now. Although she has a huge fan following and fans love her for her personality, they are not convinced she would be a good actress to portray Rogue.

With the MCU also struggling, fans believe that Marvel Studios needs actors who are really impeccable at their jobs. And since Rogue has a heavy Southern accent, they want somebody who can do justice to the character and her heritage.

First appearing in Avengers Annual #10 in 1981, Rogue was initially part of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants but went on to become a popular part of the X-Men. And if Marvel Studios is planning to bring the character to MCU, fans hope they cast a comic book-accurate actress in the role.

As of now, these are all rumors and it remains to be seen what the MCU has in store for us.
