Seeing just how massively Iron Man ruled the box office, Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios wanted to reward Jon Favreau and Robert Downey Jr for their hard work. Their efforts were clearly shown in the movie and the outcome was also one that they contributed to. Revealed in MCU: The Reign of Marvel, to give something in return, Feige, alongside David Maisel took both of them out to an expensive Chinese restaurant. However, that was not all that the two gave them.

Ike Perlmutter, who is notorious for being rather budgeted when it comes to anything, so much so that he refused to buy his staff pencils, actually said yes to an idea Maisel had. They decided to buy the duo their dream cars as a way to thank them for something so big. For Perlmutter, it meant to keep them happy and within the franchise, for the rest of them, it was a well-deserved gift.

Marvel Conspired with Robert Downey Jr’s Voice

David Maisel revealed in MCU: The Reign of Marvel that things were rather smooth from then on. He conspired with both Jon Favreau and Robert Downey Jr’s wives. They told him about what their husbands’ favorite cars were and both Kevin Feige and him went on to get them those special gifts.

Downey’s car took a few weeks to arrive since it was a Bentley with a custom color. However, when it came to Favreau, it was a top-notch Mercedes. Both of them were surprised to get the gifts and even ended up driving those cars for quite some time.
