To think that Gojo Satoru is to return would be considering the fans as people who are simply trying to feed off false hope in Jujutsu Kaisen. The possibility of the same to happen is most definitely slim. However, it is not negligible either. The latest chapter of the manga is all but proof of it as well. Whether the fans are purely taking crumbs to satisfy themselves or if these theories are actually true, it cannot be denied that the possibilities are endless in a world as vast as that of Gege Akutami’s magnum opus.
Chapter 239 of the series took a different turn than fans would have expected. Seeing that, it was not as if it was a bad chapter either. It might as well have given out a reason as to why Gojo Satoru’s return is imminent.

Jujutsu Kaisen’s Chapter 239 Hints at Gojo Satoru’s Return
Jujutsu Kaisen’s latest chapter derailed from what the fans had initially expected. While fans were waiting to see Itadori Yuji and Higuruma take on Sukuna in one of the most anticipated battles, the chapter focused on the series’ actual villain, Kenjaku. However, that is not the only detail that has gotten the readers to wonder if Gojo Satoru will return. One panel of the chapter focuses specifically on Kenjaku spectating Sukuna and Gojo’s fight, or rather, the end of it. This highlighted how Gojo’s head was not cut off.
Although it has been a theory in the making for quite some time now, there is a big chance that the current focus of the chapter was hinting at something related to the same. It confirmed that the cursed spirit is not invincible, proving his cowardice in a conversation with Hazenoki. What shed light on Gojo’s return was the reiteration of how the reverse cursed technique works.
The Neck Theory
While many tried to prove and or debunk the fact that Gojo’s neck held significance to the very revival of the character, there is a certain focus on the same. Chapter 239 extensively focuses on how the neck is very important when it comes to reverse cursed technique. Without the neck, there is no use of the technique. In the chapter, Kenjaku confronts Hazenoki about the same.
“I know very well that you use reverse cursed technique, that’s why I targetted the head. But looks like even a shoddy incarnated sorcerer like you still has some tricks. However, with this the reverse cursed technique would be cut off below the neck.”
The focus of that, alongside Gojo’s usage of the black flashes against Sukuna in previous chapters, were already strong motivators for the same. Moreover, there is also the fact that chapter 235 saw Kusakabe confirming that Gojo’s reverse cursed technique had only just been replenished, so to think of it as a possibility for his return is not unlikely.
Sukuna is Not an Opponent Without a Thought
It is not that fans wish to see Gojo Satoru fight against Kenjaku and Sukuna. Although taking over Geto’s body, it would make more sense for Kenjaku to face off against Gojo because of the symbolism it holds. However, the protagonist of Jujutsu Kaisen is Itadori Yuji, not Gojo Satoru. Another thought that comes to mind is how smart Sukuna is.
Being the King of Curses, Sukuna is not an inexperienced fighter who was hitting Gojo without proper thought. It is not easy to defeat the strongest, yet he manages to do it without even taking his true form. Due to that, it shows that Ryomen Sukuna is no small villain. He knows how reverse cursed technique works and there would be no chance that he just leaves Gojo’s head unattended under such circumstances. That is, if his head isn’t already crushed under rubble and debris.
