One aspect some gamers had an issue with regarding the title was the first-person perspective, and the melee combat was not the most satisfying. But what if Cyberpunk 2077 setting was combined with Batman Arkham Asylum’s combat mechanics? Well, we’d have Kiborg!

Immersive titles such as those from CD Projekt Red have a special place in every gamer’s heart. But sometimes you just want to sit back with a title that doesn’t demand much from the player but is still a fun experience. This seems to be the angle that Sobaka Studios is going for with Kiborg.

Guerrilla Collective 2024

The game was first announced several months ago, but we finally have new gameplay footage that was shared via the Guerilla Collective 2024 Livestream. The game is going to implement the rogue-lite formula with Arkham-style melee combat and also feature firearms for added versatility.

Each mission will begin with a combat map that allows players to choose their path to the end, similar to Slay the Spire. So, it will be up to the player to decide the frequency of fights. Completing combat encounters will help the player upgrade materials to become stronger, faster, and gain new abilities. Some of these abilities include leaving a path of fire on each dash, increasing the number of hits via shadow attacks, and having better mobility options.

The narrative structure within the game is stated to always move forward. This means whether the player succeeds or fails a mission, it will push the narrative in a new direction, resulting in a unique experience at every playthrough. The combination of Cyberpunk 2077, Arkham Asylum, and Slay the Spire will be interesting to see put into practice when the game finally releases.

Summer Game Fest hasn’t even fully begun, and we already have news about new titles in production. Bokeh Game Studio’s Slitterhead might give even the Silent Hill 2 remake a run for its money. The project is led by the legendary Keiichiro Toyama, the director, designer, and writer of the original Silent Hill from 1999.

We also have news of 2K Games bringing Borderlands 4 to the event, which is sure to get many first-person looter shooter fans excited. Horror fans will also be getting a title from Nightdive Studios, which, as their tweet implied, might have something to do with John Carpenter’s 1982 classic movie, The Thing.

There are a bunch of titles still to be announced as the event begins, but we do know of some studios and games that won’t be making an appearance. Rockstar fans will be disappointed to know GTA 6 is not going to be shown at the event, nor is Half-Life 3, nor Judas.

From understanding the complexities of a multilayer narrative to the simply joy of "big gun go boom", my goal is to capture all the emotions in between and put them down in an engaging manner.
