Few in the gaming community may remember Killer Klowns from Outer Space when it was first released in the late 80’s. However, the movie has garnered a cult status over the years, and in August 2022 there was confirmation that Teravision Games was developing the game. August 2023 saw Illfonic brought in to co-develop and publish with a release planned for 4 June.
The 3v7 multiplayer brings all the horror and comedy of the original movie and lets gamers either play as the Klowns looking to capture the humans or vice versa with the humans looking to destroy the Klowns. It’s a hard storyline to follow (we jest), but if you’re looking for ridiculous fun, this may be up your street.
A Look At The Killer Klowns From Outer Space Patch
With the day one patch, the developers are looking to first and foremost balance the humans and clowns in terms of abilities, weapons, and items. A few weapons that will no doubt be nerfed are the popcorn bazooka and the cotton candy ray which are said to be highly overpowered. There are some which would need buffed which no doubt Devs are aware of as well.
There have also been other bugs where players have fallen through the map and been stuck in areas. Issues with matchmaking and pre-made lobbies are other aspects that need to be addressed, along with timed events and mini-games.
Hello, human! Yes, cross-platform parties are inbound with our upcoming official day-one patch.

It was also confirmed on Social Media that with the day one patch, there will be cross-platform available. So players will be able to experience the madness across various platforms and thankfully there are very few limitations in terms of access for current-gen consoles. Sadly those with PS4s and Xbox One are left with pie on their face, pun intended.
What To Expect From Killer Klowns From Outer Space
When gamers first experienced the pre-launch, many highlighted that they enjoyed it but it was very buggy. Some players who have signed up for early access have been commenting that they are hopeful that the patches will improve the game significantly but otherwise the game has been fun so far.
For those who haven’t experienced the original movie and are curious about it, then look no further than our site’s recent review. The 35th anniversary saw a commemorative steel book edition released and it would be an ideal pickup for those looking to see what all the fuss is about with the game.
Whilst we don’t foresee Killer Klowns from Outer Space winning any awards any time soon, we just have to appreciate it for what it is. A light-hearted take on a cult classic movie that you can experience with friends. It’s perhaps not ideal for those who suffer from coulrophobia but if Helldivers 2 has run its course, this could just be a fun pickup for you and your friends.
