Businesswoman and media personality Kim Kardashian’s harshest critic seems to be none other than her daughter, North West. The 43-year-old socialite’s 2023 Met Gala outfit sparked considerable buzz among pop culture and fashion enthusiasts. She was seen donning a Custom Schiaparelli Haute Couture by the creative director of the French haute couture house, Daniel Roseberry.

In the November 23rd episode of Hulu’s The Kardashians S4, audiences witnessed the 10-year-old’s evaluation of her mother’s dazzling outfit. The young girl’s unfiltered reaction to the custom design led Kim Kardashian to share an important life lesson.
This, however, backfired as the socialite’s daughter was seen mocking her.
North West Was Not A Fan Of Kim Kardashian’s 2023 Met Gala Look
Hulu’s reality television series centered on the Kardashian-Jenner family’s lives allowed viewers to witness North West’s hilarious yet brutal reaction to the American Horror Story alum’s 2023 Met Gala outfit. A Schiaparelli custom, made by French designer Daniel Roseberry, should exude luxury and extravagance. But to the 10-year-old, the pearl-covered ensemble looked “fake” and “beachy.”
In the ninth episode of The Kardashians Season 4, during the final fitting of the gown, hours before the event commenced, Roseberry commented how he had heard North was “into the look.” Her response was blunt, “Yeah, well, it could be just a little better.” In the preceding episode, the young girl was shown exclaiming over a FaceTime call when she first saw the outfit.

This display of excitement made Kardashian initially believe that her daughter adored the look. Alas, the reality of North’s feelings came crashing down on the media personality when she requested the latter’s input into improving the outfit before the event began. Following was what she said to her mother and Daniel Roseberry:
“There’s way too much [sic] gaps in the pearls. It looks like she’s a Hawaiian girl with her dress all ripped. The pearls look fake. […] It’s looking, like, beachy… It’s, like, the diamonds ruin it.”
North’s comment ought to have stung. It even made Roseberry say, “This is my worst nightmare… come to life.”
Following this exchange, Kim Kardashian would later advise her daughter to express disapproval of something without offending others. However, North West remained largely unaffected by this. Instead, she replied with a retort that left her mother defeated.
Kim Kardashian’s Advice Evoked North West’s Scathing Reply
A little into the episode, as the TV star started dressing up for the occasion, her daughter came into the room and asked if a portion of the pearl-covered outfit could give her mother a “wedgie.” The Kardashian replied by affirming that she only cared for how the dress looked, not how uncomfortable it felt. Following this interaction, the businesswoman offered some advice—an attempt at coaxing North into not hurting other people by being brutally honest.
Kim Kardashian said:
“There’s a way to be honest and not hurt people’s feelings. So, I want you to learn that because there’s a way to say, ‘You know, I might not love that.”
North West, mimicking her mother’s voice and inflection, had the following to reply:
“You know, I might not love your necklace or your outfit, but I’m just trying to support you because, you know. Whatever you like, you know…. Was that good?”
Kim Kardashian concluded, looking deflated and sporting a deadpan face, “Yeah, that was a good start…”
