Matthew Vaughn has emerged as one of the top directors reportedly associated with Chapter One of DC Universe. This Chapter titled, Gods and Monsters, will feature a Superman film, Superman: Legacy, and a Batman film, The Brave and the Bold. Among other exciting projects is The Authority, which explores the story of a superhero team that is considered anti-Justice League due to their lack of moral compass.

It has been reported that Vaughn will be steering The Authority project and that he made the tough decision to step away from another major project to work on this DCU film. Vaughn was among the top contenders to direct the new James Bond film, following Daniel Craig’s departure. There has been much speculation about the lead actor and director of the film.

Notably, Vaughn has directed the frontrunners for the James Bond role in different movies. Currently, the studio is eyeing Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Henry Cavill for the role, with the former being a prominent studio choice. Vaughn has worked with Taylor-Johnson in Kick-Ass and The King’s Man, and with Cavill in Stardust and the upcoming movie Argylle. With Matthew Vaughn’s reported exit, the producers are hellbent on bringing Christopher Nolan on board for the film.

Millar also wrote 12 issues of The Authority for DC comics, This connection has sparked hope among fans that the duo will work their magic again with The Authority.

As for the DCU projects, the Universe is set to kick off with Superman: Legacy directed by James Gunn himself. Andy Muschietti, the director of the box-office flop, The Flash, is reportedly helming the Batman movie, The Brave and the Bold. Other reported projects in the Gods and Monsters chapter include films like Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow and Swamp Things, as well as series such as Lanterns and Paradise Lost.
