Fandoms of popular anime often try to discover the stronger characters in the anime. The One Piece fandom is also one of them. Whenever a new fight sequence comes up, they always try to make comparisons with powerful characters to understand the ranks. Power scaling has been one of the weirdest things that has left the fans arguing instead of enjoying the fighting sequences to their fullest.

Recently, one of the fans brought up the example of Kizaru vs. Benn Beckman during the Paramount War. They posted on social media how everyone tries to make everything a competition. They found it to be too polarizing.

The Paramount War took place years ago, but power scaling and comparison are still ongoing. The Shonen stories often suffer due to the fans setting over-the-top expectations for certain characters. All because of power scaling.

One Piece Is The Latest One To Fall Victim To Power Scaling

Kizaru is one of the prominent characters in One Piece. He is a Navy Admiral and singlehandedly crushed the Worst Generation Pirates in the Sabaody Archipelago arc. During the Paramount, when Trafalgar D. Water Law was trying to escape with a severely injured Luffy, Kizaru tried to finish them off. But he was ultimately unsuccessful due to Benn Beckman’s interference. Benn Beckman is the vice caption of the Red-Haired Pirates.

He pointed a gun at Kizaru and told him to stop. Since then, there has been a hardcore debate in the One Piece fandom that Benn Beckman can easily defeat Kizaru. The latter possesses one of the unique Devil Fruit abilities- Pika Pika no Mi, which made him a light human. While one of them supports Beckman, the other half sided with the Admiral. They believed Kizaru was trying to avoid further casualties, especially after the war.

The Reddit user took his moment to criticize the fans about their polarizing nature. It was a great scene, but the fans are fighting over meager things instead of appreciating the story. Beckman shares a connection with Luffy, so he tried to protect him. Kizaru is just trying to do his job as a Marine.

Both are right in their ideology, but the problem lies with power scaling. One of the fans even commented, “Kizaru clearly wasn’t taking him seriously. Why are you letting the power scaling community ruin your enjoyment of the show?”

It causes desperation, and they are willing to go to any length to prove their theories correct. It often hurts the plot. If Benn Beckman ever loses to someone, then fans will say the victor is stronger than Kizaru. It is like a loop and will go on without any end. The only thing that concludes is the underlying entertainment within the plot.

One Piece is at the climax of the Egghead Island arc and will soon enter the Elbaf arc. The Elbaf arc will be a massive step in deciding who becomes the King of the Pirates. Most of the big names will be present on the island, and Eiichiro Oda promised to draw the biggest war in the anime’s history. Since prominent pirates and marines will be present, people might find it to be the perfect scenario for power scaling.

Who wins or loses will become the subject of power scaling. Power scaling has the power to ruin beautiful moments. With One Piece nearing its end, fans only have a limited time to enjoy the anime. Several mysteries remain unknown. The mangaka is known for tying up all loose ends. It will be interesting to see how the story folds during the final war. Moreover, everyone wants to enjoy these moments and not ruin them.

One Piece can be streamed on Crunchyroll.
