Unlike The Last Airbender, The Legend of Korra had a different approach to its show, as it preferred to follow a more mature protagonist and deal with more layered themes such as politics, class, and Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). While the 2005 show was labeled as age-neutral, the sequel is more appealing to an older audience, who have an interest in these themes.
Though the show is undeniably remarkable, full of intricate world-building with three-dimensional characters, it is disliked by a percentage of the franchise’s fans. However, a fan has come forward and mentioned how some of the events featured in the show were quite unnecessary. If the story writers avoided making the story so complex, and how certain events did not make any sense at all.
The Legend of Korra Featured One Major Mistake During Its Poor Run
There’s no denying that the 2012 show, The Legend of Korra has left an indelible mark on its viewers for presenting a rich lore, with memorable characters and relatable complex themes. Some fans claim it is one of the greatest animated shows for featuring bold storytelling and challenging the limitations of narrations, while some believe the show is nothing special.
Though the opinions of the fans of the series can be divided, a fan commented on a post on the subreddit for the fans of Avatar (r/TheLastAirbende), asking them to share their opinion on which show made “the worst mistakes during their run?” The fan pointed out how it was not the fault of the protagonist for being a bad show, as she didn’t “destroy the cycle, stop saying she did as if she just gave up. Unalok did.”
The fan pointed out some key events in the show, that ruined its experience, stating how Vaatu’s dominance over Raava during their battle made him look more potent, with her nearly winning against him alone. However, Unalok interfered in their duel and prevented her from sealing Vaatu. The fan pointed out how the protagonist was fighting an “apocalyptic threat and idk why people downplay it.”
They mentioned had it been Aang, the fans would state how he did not end the “avatar cycle” and fought valiantly till his last breath and died a fighting Ozai, with some saying “Ozai killed the avatar.” The fan believes that her starting a new cycle is not a bad thing for the world because “The only thing losing Raava did severed her connection to the past lives. Korra now has Raava in her prime.”
Due to the choices made during the harmonic convergence, it led to the airbenders returning and her decisions indeed changed the world. But it should be acceptable because no one came forward to save the day when a major threat was apocalyptic in nature.
Fans of The Legend of Korra Come Forward to Emphasise How Korra Had a More Difficult Time Than Aang
As the fan pointed out the key problem revolving around the sequel to the 2005 show, several fans on Reddit came forward, stating how Aang had a much better time, saving the world in comparison to Korra.
They commented, comparing both shows and how both protagonists were polar opposites.
