Kristen Wiig Became SNL‘s ‘Five-Timers’ Member

As Kristen Wiig took the stage, she couldn’t contain her happiness. With a wide smile, she announced to the audience that she was “so happy to be back” and “excited” to host Saturday Night Live! for the fifth time.

With this, she has now officially become part of the exclusive Five-Timers Club. Wiig was all pumped up about joining the club, but things took a hilarious turn when her old SNL buddies crashed her monologue!

Out of nowhere, Paul Rudd, showed up from the crowd and told her she’s getting a special jacket for being in the club. But then, Matt Damon showed up too, wearing his own fancy jacket, and started chatting with Wiig. Turns out, The Martian actor has been on SNL only two times, but he explained how the boss counted his hosting gigs differently and he ended up getting the Five-timers jacket.

As the actress and comedian got a bit confused , wondering if everyone’s getting these jackets, no matter how many times they’ve hosted. Then, the camera cut to the show’s creator, Lorne Michaels, on stage with Jonathan Hamm, Martin Short, Fred Armisen, and Will Forte, all donning the same jackets, and explained, “Together we’ve hosted five times.”

After all the chaos, Wiig seemed a bit down, telling the audience that being in the Five-Timers Club didn’t feel as special as she thought. Then, Damon tried to cheer her up by offering her his jacket, but she politely turned it down.

Damon then tried to make her feel better by saying she was “the youngest member of the Five Timers club,” — which wasn’t true because Emma Stone holds that title. The group then joined Damon and the monologue concluded with the whole group singing, “This is your night!”

Later she also received a musical serenade from fellow actor, Ryan Gosling, who’s scheduled to host the show next week. He made a surprise appearance wearing a Five-Timers jacket, even though he’s not actually part of the elite club.

The actor then checked with Michaels to make sure it was okay for him to wear the jacket prematurely. As Wiig continued to look confused, the Barbie star stepped forward and finally presented the actress with her very own Five-Timers jacket.

Tom Hanks made history by officially introducing the Five-Timers Club during his hosting gig on a 1990 episode of SNL. During Hanks’ fifth time hosting, some big names like Steve Martin, Paul Simon, and Elliott Gould (all part of the club at the time) welcomed him into the club.

Since then, anyone who’s hosted SNL five times or more is part of this exclusive club. The Finch star was actually the seventh person to hit this milestone!
