The gaming community was blown away by Nintendo’s innovative and ambitious handheld console and is ready to see a potential Switch 2 officially revealed to the world. It has been a long time coming and recent reports suggest that fans will not have to wait long before stepping into the next generation.
Nintendo has taken a different approach from the previous console generations and seems to have lost interest in directly competing with rival platforms with stronger horsepower. The Japanese gaming company wanted to stand out and deliver a unique exposure rather than offering another alternative for a similar gaming experience.
The Switch 2 Could Be Closer Than Most Would Expect
Sony and Microsoft kickstarted the current generation with the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S respectively, the gaming community has been waiting for Nintendo’s entry, which they have dubbed as the Nintendo Switch 2.
Fans are running out of patience; however, it is crucial to remember that the gaming company does not follow the norms and release schedules established by rivals.
A few months ago, President Furukawa reiterated that no news relating to the Switch 2 will be shared in Nintendo Directs and will be focusing on upcoming software for the present gaming system.
Furukawa understands the enthusiasm and anticipation of the gaming community and implores it to wait, and recent reports suggest that the potential release window is closer than one may expect.

There is a strong likelihood that this new hardware will carry over the unique and innovative features of the current hybrid console and be a proper successor.
Nintendo is competing with itself rather than keeping up with PlayStation and Xbox. The company is biding its time to analyze the gaming community’s interest and avoid making the same mistakes, like shortages at launch.
Furukawa would not want to jump the gun too early and offer the latest consoles knowing it is not ready for consumption. The company had a terrible track record in the past and would not want to lose all the momentum and goodwill it has earned with the current system.
The Nintendo Switch Successor Is Almost Here
The original Switch was released in 2017 and received a revision 2 years later with a better battery. Nintendo also released a Lite model that took away all the detachable joy cons and docking features for a cheaper price and in 2021, the company released the premium model with an OLED screen. Fans have seen their fair share of Switch models and are ready to move on.
According to the report, there is a high possibility of the console being released sometime between April and June next year and it is not that long of a wait. Fans can save enough money and prepare for the eye-watering Nintendo Switch 2 price tag.
It seems it will cost less than $499, which is quite a relief considering the prices of current generation consoles.
Great gaming experiences require time and sacrifice. Nintendo has been on the back burner regarding hardware and for good reason. Perhaps the company wants to take the gaming community into the next generation in earnest.
Hopefully, the wait will be worth it and the successor will live up to expectations. Maybe Nintendo will share more news in the holiday season.
