Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny premiered last June 30 and earned over $358 million at the worldwide box office. It was considered a huge flop after solely relying on nostalgia and the fame of the franchise. Nonetheless, Ford believes he and the team made an ambitious film.

Harrison Ford Lashed At His Indiana Jones Stuntmen

In his interview with Esquire, Star Wars actor Harrison Ford explained his vision for his role in the fifth and final Indiana Jones installment:

I wanted an ambitious movie to be the last one, and I don’t mean that we didn’t make ambitious movies before—they were ambitious in many different ways. But not necessarily as ambitious with the character as I wanted the last one to be.”

Since Ford wanted to take his character to new heights, he was seen riding a horse on a New York subway platform. During the filming, the actor felt several hands touching his legs:

I thought, ‘What the fuck?’ Like I was being attacked by gropers. I look down, and there’s three stunt guys there making sure I didn’t fall off the stirrup. They said, ‘Oh, we were just afraid because we thought, you know,’ and bah bah bah bah. And I said, ‘Leave me the fuck alone, I’m an old man—I’m an old man getting off a horse, and I want it to look like that!’

The horse riding scene was not the only stunt Ford showed in the movie. He also did a hand-to-hand combat with the antagonist on a speeding train, which looks pretty much like a Mission: Impossible scene, and it was Ford’s idea.

Over his fifty years in the movie industry, the Cowboys & Aliens star has also seriously hurt himself from several dangerous stunts. When the host noted that he does many of his action scenes, Ford responded:

Yeah, well, I’m also known for shutting movies down because I get hurt, which is not something you want to be known for. But hey, sh*t happens.”

Thankfully, Ford still manages to pull a couple of incredible movie stunts despite the changes in his body brought on by previous injuries. For a man in his eighties, that would take a load of strength and stamina.

Right after starring in Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, Ford isn’t slowing down. Fans will soon see him in his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut for Captain America: Brave New World. When asked if filming for Marvel was fun, he answered (via Variety):

Yeah. I mean, there are tough days, and easy days, and fun days and all kinds of days. It’s a tough schedule, and, yeah, it’s fun. But it’s not a walk in the park. It’s not fun fun. It’s work.”

Despite his jam-packed schedule, Harrison Ford does not seem to mind working on new project after project. He truly does not let age get in the way of accomplishing goals!

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny is available to watch on Disney+.
