Fortnite got the new LEGO game mode earlier this month on the 7th, kicking off a new era for the game. Fortnite’s attempt to be more than just a battle royale is taking shape slowly and steadily and LEGO Fortnite was a step in that direction. The game mode gives players a massive map to explore and get all kinds of creative.

Players can build their villages or go into survival mode to keep it more interesting. The game mode was a welcome addition to Fortnite gamers, until a newly discovered glitch recently started ruining the experience for players.

The LEGO Fortnite Experience Can Be Ruined by a Bug

LEGO Fortnite could still give players a brilliant experience, if the major bugs are fixed.

The LEGO Fortnite game mode is not even a month old and gamers are already disliking it for its inconsistent build limitations. The LEGO Fortnite game mode witnessed at least half a million gamers playing constantly, with the numbers dropping soon after.

A recently discovered glitch in the game mode has now given gamers yet another reason to stop playing it, at least until a fix arrives. Players building villages have started losing levels, which frustrated players as the reason wasn’t known early on. One of the players shared details of this bug on Reddit, where several others joined in to discuss similar unfortunate experiences.

The player who posted a screenshot from the game on the official LEGO Fortnite Reddit page explained that he was playing on PC and had reached Level 6. The player mentioned having added a bunch of walls around his base, but after doing so, the village dropped a level to Level 5. Trying to disconnect from the game and log back in, the village dropped to Level 4, and then further dropped to Level 3.

The player said that he had enough items equipped to take his village to over Level 6. The player’s last update was that the village level meter had “dropped down to the bottom,” which stopped the player’s progress and prevented any upgrades from being applied to the village. Another Redditor replied saying a similar issue was experienced on a PlayStation 5.

Breaking Renovations to Blame for the Bug

An official update should be on the way to fix the LEGO Fortnite Village bug.

It took a comment by yet another gamer to understand the cause of the bug. The Redditor explained that if players build a renovation, the village score will increase by a point. On the other hand, breaking a renovation brought it down by -2 or even -3 points. Breaking pre-existing items will make players “build a lot to make up for it.

The original poster replied to that comment and mentioned having destroyed dozens of walls while trying to get the foundations perfectly placed and designing the corners. The suggestion mentioned was to not break anything until the village score reached Level 10, and then to get five villagers before starting to renovate.

Several others have mentioned how the new game mode is unplayable until a possible fix arrives from the developers. For now, the required resources for each village Level are as follows.

Level 1 is achieved by default after building a village square with 8 granite and 10 wood. Level 2 requires 15 granite and 15 wood. Level 3 requires 20 granite and 10 planks, while Level 4 requires 25 granite, 15 planks, and 10 Knotroots. Level 5 requires 20 planks, 15 Knotroots, and 15 marble. Level 6 requires 20 Knotroots and 30 granite slabs.

Level 7 requires 20 knotroot and 20 marble slabs. Level 8 requires 10 rough amber and 30 marble slabs. Level 9 requires 10 cut amber, 15 obsidian, and 16 flexwood. The final Level 10 requires 15 Flexwood rods, 20 cut amber, and finally 30 obsidian slabs.

Apart from this glitch, the official Fortnite status account on X posted a reply to a Fortnite player who had mentioned villagers assigned to work at the Metal Smelter did not progress. The issue was said to be looked into and will be updated soon.

At the time of writing, there are no updates by Epic Games about fixing the aforementioned village bug, but it’s bound to be addressed by the developers soon enough to retain players. The last update to the game wasn’t a major one as it only fixed some minor changes to weapon durability and item stacking.
