Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse stunned audiences five years ago with its ground-breaking animation, engaging multiverse story, and heart-stopping soundtrack. It didn’t just take home the Best Animated Feature Oscar; it also revolutionized animated film. How could a sequel even try to equal, much less top, that ground-breaking comic book movie?
Well, with critics calling it a bigger, better, and more visually stunning film — possibly one of the best sequels of all time — Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse has received a similarly outstanding 97% Tomatometer score based on early reviews.

While Miguel plays a big part in the movie, co-director Kemp Powers revealed in an interview with SFX magazine that the portrayal of Spider-Man 2099 is more than just a typical villain.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse immerses the audience in an incredible number of worlds, each with its own animation style and tone, in addition to this impressive balance of characters. We see worlds like the sci-fi Spider-Man 2099 universe, a world that resembles a comic book even more, to name a few.
This opens up an almost limitless number of possibilities. Each universe is fascinating in its own unique way, and Across the Spider-Verse is horribly brilliant in the way it seamlessly weaves all these creative ideas together that make narrative sense.
Thus, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse unquestionably can be said to be among one of the best-animated movies in recent memory. Also, it serves as a contender for the best superhero movie of all time. It almost seems miraculous that this movie even exists.
