“Let the Monarch writers handle the MonsterVerse”: Fans Pitch the Perfect Idea to Save Millie Bobby Brown Franchise

SUMMARY

  • It is a given that the humans in the MonsterVerse franchise—a recent run of movies that link Godzilla and King Kong—are the least fascinating.
  • Though they serve as our guides in these stories, the humans are kind of boring; what we really want to see are Godzilla, Kong, and the other monsters they butt up against.
  • This is what makes the new Apple TV+ series Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, which is set in the MonsterVerse, kind of special.
  • Thus, fans have come up with the perfect idea to save the series and propel it forward as the franchise gets ready for the upcoming Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire: enlisting the lead characters from Monarch: Legacy of Monsters.

It is a given that the humans in the so-called MonsterVerse franchise—a recent run of movies that link Godzilla and King Kong—are the least fascinating. Few franchises have managed to keep viewers’ interest as long as MonsterVerse has. This fantastic cinematic universe has captivated us from the start with its captivating monsters, remarkable battles, and unforgettable characters. But as the franchise prepares for the upcoming Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, its fans have devised the ideal plan to rescue the series and take it to new heights: enlisting the main characters from Monarch: Legacy of Monsters to lead the way.

The Perfect Pitch: Let Monarch: Legacy of Monsters Writers Handle The MonsterVerse

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters is an incredibly successful series, no doubt about it. To maintain audience engagement, the show gave it a fresh renewal, just like with any long-running franchise. Following the events of Godzilla (2014), the Anna Sawai starrer series follows members of the organization Monarch as they encounter Godzilla and other monsters known as Titans.

Fans argue that by incorporating the main characters from Monarch: Legacy of Monsters into the upcoming Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, the franchise could usher in an exciting new era while also revitalizing the story. Instead of all the boring human characters, Adam Wingard’s new film should feature the main characters from Chris Black and Matt Fraction’s series.

The seventh film in the MonsterVerse and a follow-up to Godzilla vs. Kong (2021), Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire stars Rebecca Hall, Dan Stevens, Brian Tyree Henry, Kaylee Hottle, Fala Chen, and Alex Ferns, among others. The movie is expected to push the limits of spectacle with its enormous creatures, amazing visual effects, and epic battles.

Who Else Could Fill in for Millie Bobby Brown in MonsterVerse?

The MonsterVerse movies have not gotten many positive reviews since Stranger Things actress Millie Bobby Brown, 19, assumed the lead role. She is an incredible actor in her own right. But treating Godzilla like King Kong, with the protagonist reduced to a helpless girl, is not going to work.

Since Godzilla is a natural disaster creator capable of unleashing devastation on a massive scale, his films require a protagonist who can withstand his devastating finales, if not outright humanely subdue them. And the greatest person to propel MonsterVerse forward is Dwayne Johnson, who starred in a role akin to his in Rampage.

It would not be the first time a well-known franchise switched up the main character while maintaining the CGI characters. Mark Wahlberg made a similar introduction as the new main character in Transformers: Age of Extinction (2014). Still, the movie and its follow-up fell short of encapsulating the spirit of the first trilogy, which catapulted Shia LaBeouf to fame.

If and when Johnson decides to explore the Hollow Earth, we can only hope that the MonsterVerse movies will be able to appropriately handle his on-screen dominance.
