In the wake of Henry Cavill’s disheartening departure from The Witcher, there remained nothing but the scorched heat of fans’ wrath and palpable disappointment.

After the beloved actor passed down the torch to Liam Hemsworth, the audience vowed to renounce the show altogether, refusing to entertain the clearly displeasing upheaval. It was as if the world had tumbled upside down from the brutal impact of the news. But one of the stars of the Netflix series seems fairly positive that The Witcher will move on unimpeded by Cavill’s absence, irrespective of what people say.

The Witcher Star Claims Henry Cavill’s Exit Won’t Impact the Show

Henry Cavill had a glorious run as Geralt of Rivia for three great seasons of The Witcher, his rendition of the magical monster hunter forming an indelible impression on the audience. So people were bound to become hysterical when the British actor disclosed the news of his sudden and upsetting leave from the show. But perhaps Netflix didn’t anticipate the severity of the aftermath that would follow.

In light of the deluge of complaints following the recasting, showrunners broke a sweat and the studio drowned in endless worry regarding the future of The Witcher. But Mercia Simson, who portrays Francesca Findabair in the fantasy-adventure series is awfully sure that the Man of Steel star’s exit would have no bad influence on The Witcher 4 whatsoever.

In her recent appearance on A Trip to the Movies with Alex Zane podcast, Simson, 33, remarked how, though it marks the “end of an era,” Cavill’s absence in the show won’t make it any less exciting. While she’s delighted about having been able to collaborate with such a talented entity, Simson is positive that the show will be “great” regardless.

“I was very shocked when I found out because we’ve done three seasons with him. Obviously, it’s sad because it’s an end of an era. But that’s okay. And I think what comes next… there’s going to be more exciting things that are going to happen. I think the show is still going to be great and I feel like we’re grateful that we had the time that we did when we had him.”

What’s more, the actress seems to have tons of confidence in Liam Hemsworth, who is slated to don the mantle of the White Wolf from season 4 onwards.

Mercia Simson Has Faith in Liam Hemsworth

With fans promising to never pick up the show after season 3, things became a bit bleak for a hot minute there; it was obvious people were enraged to see Hemsworth replacing Cavill, but not Simson. The model believes that the transition will be a good change of scenery and that The Hunger Games star will “do an amazing job.”

“Of course it’s sad, but, honestly, I don’t think it’s going to affect the show that much. I feel like the show is so big and there’s so many elements to it that– I just feel like everything is going to be okay. It’ll be a nice transition and I think [Hemsworth] is going to do an amazing job.”

Well, at least someone is rooting for Hemsworth.

The Witcher 3 will air on Netflix on June 29, 2023.
