Cohen and Fisher formally announced their split through their respective Instagram stories in a joint statement. Fisher appeared on Conan a few years ago to narrate an incident involving her then-husband Cohen and Jack Black that turned into an awkward encounter. The couple who were attending the premier of Black’s film, were subjected to a laborious speech by an elderly woman before the actor got up to adresss the audience with his succinct message.
When The Dictator star and Fisher went over to the Kung Fu Panda star to congratulate him on his film, Cohen commented on the woman and her long speech with his quintessential no-holes-barred opinion and said,
”That woman who wouldn’t shut up with the massive b**bs”!
It turned out that the lady in question was none other than Black’s mother. To make matters worse, the Borat actor tried to manage the situation but ended up dragging Fisher into the equation by asking her if she had always desired big b****ts.
The Australian actress further stated that being embarrassed was not part of Cohen’s vocabulary, and confessed that despite the awkwardness, this was a delightful trait that she admired in him.
What Went Wrong With Sacha Baron Cohen And Isla Fisher?
While Isla Fisher’s appearance on Conan a few years ago gave audiences the impression that she and Sacha Baron Cohen shared a very interesting and colorful relationship, their recent divorce reveals that there was trouble in paradise for a while.
In a highly discussed joint statement on their respective Instagram Stories (via People), the celebrities created intrigue by putting up a picture of themselves in tennis apparel and gave everyone the official news of their split.
“After a long tennis match lasting over twenty years, we are finally putting our racquets down. We have always prioritized our privacy, and have been quietly working through this change. We forever share in our devotion and love for our children. We sincerely appreciate your respecting our family’s wish for privacy.”
Following this revelation from the two stars, a source told People that this split has been in the making for quite a while now. According to the insider, Cohen and Fisher have reportedly been discussing divorce as far back as the summer of 2023.
Expectedly, speculations are rife regarding the timing of the divorce after the explosive claims made by Rebel Wilson about Cohen in her memoir, Rebel Rising. But a report in US Weekly has rubbished these rumors when a source revealed that the celebrities had being going through a tumultuous time in their relationship long before Wilson’s revelations.
