Game of Thrones was more than simply a TV show; it was a worldwide cultural phenomenon that captivated viewers. The show was based on George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire novels to visually create a fantasy epic unlike any other. Not just the storyline, but the characters on the show also became household names, especially Emilia Clarke and her portrayal of Daenerys Targaryen.

The audience responded poorly to the show’s last season, despite the first few seasons being well-received. Further, even before the final season had aired, Emilia Clarke had ceased publicly defending the series. So, her GOT co-star Nathalie Emmanuel had to come forward.

Emilia Clarke had already been part of a slew of movies before Game of Thrones was offered to her. However, with the fantasy drama, she further solidified her status in Hollywood. But as the eighth season of the show drew closer, audience opinions began to shift. Numerous reviewers and fans voiced their dissatisfaction with the plot’s development. In addition, the series lacked the nuance and complexity of the previous seasons and appeared rushed.

Emilia Clarke was questioned multiple times about her personal thoughts on the conclusion of Game of Thrones. For the most part, the actress refrained from diving deeper into the details. But her facial expressions and body language suggested something entirely different. She threw these exact subtle cues while attending the annual HBO Emmys party.

A recently resurfaced video on Instagram featured Emilia Clarke while being interviewed by Entertainment Tonight. She wasn’t alone, though Nathalie Emmanuel was also present alongside her. The host asked Emilia Clark if she had shot her final scenes yet and was she happy with how things ended. To this Clarke, nervously replied, “best season ever.”

The actress was clearly uncomfortable with the question. Further, Nathalie Emmanuel interrupts the debate to salvage the day, saying, “It’s the best season ever.” Following the video’s reemergence, viewers were quick to leave comments, with one fan even commenting.

Emilia didnt give a shit but Nathalie answered the question like the KGB was watching her every move.

To be noted, this interview took place before the final season was aired. But given the actress’s response, it was quite clear that even she had some reservations about how her character was going to be shown in the final season. The concerns were genuine, given her character’s descent into madness and the destructive rampage leading to her death at the hands of Jon Snow (Kit Harington).

Emilia Clarke’s Major Health Emergency During Game of Thrones

Clarke was coping with a brain aneurysm during the first two seasons of the show. In The New Yorker editorial, she revealed that she suffered a headache while getting dressed in a gym’s locker room a few months after the first season of the series debuted in 2011. After this, she went to get an MRI and was informed that she had a subarachnoid hemorrhage. Given the life-threatening nature of the aneurysm, she underwent surgery in order to recover.

After the surgery came the period of recovery. But to her horror, she wasn’t able to even remember her name and was mumbling random words. She later discovered that she was suffering from aphasia, a condition resulting from trauma to her brain. The actress spent approximately a month in the hospital, but before she was released, she was given another shock.

The physicians told her that there was a smaller aneurysm on the opposite side of her brain that might burst, or stay dormant. However, it was suggested that she monitor her health. She was able to push things through to season three, but an MRI revealed that the aneurysm had doubled in size.

Unlike the previous procedure, which was non-invasive, this one required the surgeons to remove small bits of her skull. Since the scar is no longer noticeable, it merely highlights her dedication to acting and how even a brain aneurysm couldn’t stop her.
