Lily Gladstone will re-unite with Martin Scorsese

Martin Scorsese is set to produce the film, reuniting with  Lily Gladstone, whom he directed in Killers of the Flower Moon. The film is about an island, where certain characters are responsible for removing memories from its inhabitants. The film follows a novelist who tries to look for his editor, while also remembering stuff that they should not, hiding from the police.

The film is to be directed by Reed Morano, who has had her fair share of experience directing dystopias. Morano has directed a few episodes of The Handmaid’s Tale, adapted from Margaret Atwood’s groundbreaking dystopian novel. Morano has also directed Peter Dinklage and Elle Fanning in the indie post-apocalyptic film I Think We’re Alone Now.

The Memory Police has two separate major influences, modernist writer Franz Kafka and George Orwell’s Nineteen Eighty-Four, the quintessential dystopian story.

The announcement comes at the height of the awards season too, when all eyes are trained on the actors who are nominated for various categories, along with the projects that they have on their radar.
